I really dont know why, but I feel very angry to see this car
I really hate the way the car looks. Why is that so? does anyone else hate the car's design?

Edit: I just read the full thread, turns out many ppl dont like the car's look.

yeah. the car does look boring. Infact, to me it even seems cramped at the backseat. Dont expect this to be high on rear comfort.

Its all about wait and watch, i guess. Eagerly waiting for detailed test report from Tbhp.

More than the looks, it has to be the quality that has to be right.
Especially the ABC pedals.

Now, the 3rd gen prius has been recalled officially for brake issues.

It may be boring, dull, ugly to look at. But it has got one thing going for it. The BADGE. People (let me say non-TBHP folks) will take any car that comes out of Toyota, Honda or Maruti because of the brand.
Though I think, with proper finishing (colours, graphics) these cars would start looking better.

I hate the sedan, the hatch seems ok. It really upsets me to know that toyota would give us a generation old (previous generation Vios), modified for India (3rd world country) car. Why! Hats off to Honda and Chevrolet for giving us the latest cars that are truly world cars and not cheap made for BRIC countries.

looks do matter at times. If you would see a lot of people deciding when buying cars in the Ownership reports section, which car, based on the looks as well. I am not saying that looks is a major decision, but it does matter. Even if it is just a 10% of the buying criteria, it matters.
For ex, a lot of people have not gone ahead with the VISTA just because of the Dashboard console being in the center (me Included).

No use harping about the bland looks now! Because the production version ain't going to change one bit from these prototypes in the scoop images. So lets hope the overall quality and dynamics are good and that new 1.5 petrol a hoot to drive!

The Ford Fiesta attracted similar disappointing reactions when it was launched, but it didn't turn out to be a bad car after all, especially the sweet new 1.6S.SO lets hope for the best.!

I don't think so!!
Qualis virtually had no competition at the time it was launched or was in the market. Remember the hatch is going to compete with the likes of Swift/Ritz or i20 if priced on higher side?? and with this shabby looks IMO it has lost half of the battle before even reaching the battlefield!! C'mon Toyota you could have atleast launched Yaris hatch and sedan instead

They may look bland and boring but Toyota has great brand equity in India and will sell very well if the price is right.

I'm right now in Japan and these cars look fine compared to some of the ugly looking cars found on the roads (include Toyota cars) here.

The car looks like it popped out of some bad 80s bollywood science fiction movie... if you can image THAT.

The likes of next gen hatches such as i20, beat with their ultra cool styling have really spolit us! After them the etios hatch really looks like an old wine in an older bottle!

Is the Toyota brand Really serious about Indian operations, With respect to the competition in the respective segments of both the cars, they really are bland. Even there arch rivals Honda is sure to bring out a cool new small hatch & then there is the CITY. Competition over at comparable price points to the toyota hatch & sedan, They cannot play reliability card forever, Even other modern cars are as reliable both in the hatch & sedan segment.
