Yes this is true. I own an A-Star LXi Mar 2009 model. They changed the fuel pump gasket. Otherwise, the car has been running fine without any problems till date. Mileage in city/highway ~ 20/26 (Without AC) 18/22 (AC).

This A-Star recall had started much earlier abroad. One guy in an European forum got the recall letter for his Alto(AStar) on Dec 9th for the replacement of fuel pump gasket and O-ring.

This is an related interesting read - India does not have a recall policy: Maruti- Automobiles-Auto-News By Industry-News-The Economic Times

Maruthi has clearly pointed out that India does not have a recall policy in place;not an effective one as in the western countries. Quoting the chairman's words - "There was no attempt to hush up the matter. There was a delay in going public as India does not have a recall policy in contrast to countries in Europe which have a framework in place for reporting such matters". No wonder we are taken for a ride by most car companies. Until such time that we have a good policy in place we can continue to see more owners with faulty cars.

The dealer has a list of Chassis numbers of the cars which need replacement and all are till Aug 09 manf. date only. Since mine was manf. in Oct 09 and bought in Nov 09 there is not replacement necessary is what was coveyed to me.
