Is this not PD? I have no idea.
I believe it has always had the CR engine. The point is that this variant used to be sold earlier and has now been discontinued after the launch of the TSi.

In fact VW does not have DSG on any of their current line-up of cars.

I never mentioned its the same engine. I know previous PD and current CR engines are entirely different.

Still the India VW site does not talk of CRDI!
Not sure when they will update their site.

She wouldn't let me complete my sentence when trying to say that CRDi has only been recently introduced (?). Was this the PD car? VW said NO. I tried thrice. The customer or well a college guy coming for a TD isn't the King for them. So whatever. :P
When I checked VW website yesterday, the Passat page is updated with 1.8 details, and all info on CRDi DSG is removed. Which means that they could have discontinued the diesel option (atleast for now)? By the way, look at the w.e.f date mentioned on your scan... Its 31/05/09. Not sure if the dealer is really looking to clear off the stuff. Maybe check around with dealers also.
It’s quite appalling to see the level of information the dealers have. If I remember right, the Passat was launched initially with PD engine, and it was the first model from VW to move to CRDi in India.

The site has already been updated with the Jetta CRDi details. Though it looks like a 'find - replace' job as in many places they updated 2.0L CRDI, but the copy reads 'the 1.9 Jetta is more powerful', blah, blah.....

I thought both Jetta and Passat are getting the same 2.0 engine but I guess not. Jetta is only 110 PS whereas Passat is 140. Anybody know whats' different in these.

As far as i know, the 140 horsepower deisel engine for PAssat is no longer available. The one in Jetta is based on a similar engine but is detuned to produce 110 ps. The Passat as of now is only available with 1.8 Tsi producing 160 HP.

What about the Superb diesel? Is that the 140 bhp version?

Hyundai and GM offering 140 bhp from their D seg diesels.

Do we have any threads on first impressions or drive reports of Passat 1.8 TSI, or Jetta CRDi?

@Yeldo - Got your Jetta delivered?

Bumping up an old thread:

I came across a 2011 jetta highline manual for sale (Mk-V). AFAIK the manual version of the 2.0 TDI in it comes with 110 bhp. What about the DSG version of the same?
