| Team-BHP Support ![]() | So Ford aint been sleeping, and after only 1 success of 5 launches (Escort, Ikon, Mondeo, Endeavour, Fusion), the American giant is geared up to launch its latest offering in the next week. Apparently its going to be positioned against the NHC and the Optra. For those who arent aware, this should have been the new Ikon. Our current Indian Ikon is based on the old-gen Fiesta, and the B376 uses the platform of the new Fiesta. GTO Economic Times link

| Thats funny, because the Ford MD announced during the launch of the new Brand@Retail service concept (to be rolled out across the country soon) at their showroom in Cochin that the new car is scheduled for launch by end-December... See INDIAN EXPRESS link... Conflicting news from the same company??? PS: DID I READ RIGHT - ARE THEY SERIOUSLY EXPECTING THIS NEW CAR PRICED AT 7 LAKHS PLUS TO SELL MORE THAN THE IKON????

| Team-BHP Support ![]() | Well, deliveries are going to be in December. Fat chance that people will buy a Ford that looks just like a regular C segmenter in size and design for 7 - 9 lacs (if the pictures in Top gear are anything to go by) GTO

The Accent CRDi does well with a 1.5 litre engine. The Duratorq TDCi is the Common Rail series developed by Peuguot for Ford (though Ford claims it was developed 'WITH' Peuguot Citroen PSA). Its ax output is 68 PS @ 4000 rpm and Torque is 160 nm @ 2000, which isnt too bad. The 1.6 develops 100 bhp or so, which is pretty much the benchmark (compare with NHC's measly power figures). However, a comparison of diesels in this bracket makes the diesel look a bit ordinary: MODEL Max Power Max Torque Fiesta Duratorq 1.4 TDCi 68PS @ 4000 rpm 16 kgnm@2000 Accent CRDi (1.5) 82PS @ 4000 rpm 19.1kgnm @ 2000-2700 Indigo TDi 70PS @ 4500 rpm 13.5kgnm @ 2500 Fiat Petra 1.9D 63PS @ 4500 rpm 12.2kgnm @ 2500 As you can see, the engine doesnt come out tops in either bhp or torque.

| Did some image searching and it looks like there is ALREADY a Fiesta with a boot destined for Brazil (where the Ikon was also sold)... Check out the pics - this could be what the new vehicle looks like: http://www.fiestahp.com.br/Testes/20...endFlex-03.jpg http://www.fiestahp.com.br/Testes/20...endFlex-04.jpg http://www.fiestahp.com.br/Testes/20...endFlex-05.jpg http://www.fiestahp.com.br/Testes/20...endFlex-06.jpg http://www.fiestahp.com.br/Testes/20...endFlex-07.jpg http://www.fiestahp.com.br/Testes/20...endFlex-09.jpg Tacky plastics, though.... They've even put up a comparison between the Ikon and the new vehicle, confirming this speculation (old v/s new - see they get the new model as an update and not at a higher price!) http://www.fiestahp.com.br/Testes/Co.../Foto1_576.jpg http://www.fiestahp.com.br/Testes/Co...iestasedan.htm Must say the new one looks majorly confused, though...worse than the NHC and the Indigo. Anyone here comprende espanol ???

| Senior - BHPian | Nice work steeroid! Firstly the 1st pic in post no 8 looks like the car is a fusion! Inside also it looks similar to the fusion! I doubt its going to sell with such looks! Remember NHC was a different case! First the OHC had created the City Hype and plus the Honda badging! Great interiors made the car sell. But with ford has got on offering it looks like a Renault Logan to me! I just hope they dont discontinue the Ikon!

| Senior - BHPian | The cars dont have bad designs. The manufacturers just make them aerodynamic so that they have bettre FE abd stability and are safer. Me too doet like the design of NHC but when i saw other cars (golf etc) which were runnign around in other more developed countries and did a research on it... i found out that these designs are aerodynamic and more safer. | Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | Doesn't look all that great, just like the Ford Fusion with good exterior quality but not turning heads. Seems to be a good car. Have seen a number of Fusion's increasing. The tyres and wheels of the Fiesta are toooooooo small compared to the car and the height of that suspension.

| Team-BHP Support ![]() | Holy Cow! I dont believe this, Steeroid....You have actually delivered what even the car magazines were struggling to - Thats a priceless find. Its amazing how much more modern the new car looks, and the older Ikon was never a bad looker. The real trump card will be the fuel efficient 1.4 liter diesel (Remember what a good powerplant did to the Octavias success?) If the 1.4 Diesel is priced at par with the NHC....I just cant wait for the battle GTO

| The pics of brazilian ford fiesta are with 1.6 Flex engine which is a bi-fuel version and labeled as 1.6L Flex, This engine is capable of running on both petrol and alcohol, even mixed at any proportion and also features "Compound High Turbulence" Combustion chambers (C.H.T) a design which was used way back in 1980's in escort Mk3. The engine gives about 110bhp , But will have to wait and see what engine options are available for india
