Nice picture ... every city/ town has its share of these 'dada' cars with VIP number plates. Everything about it has a 'dont dare mess with me' attitude.

It looks like a significantly revamped Tata Estate Or is it some import from the 80s ?

LOL GTO. I certainly would not want to see that creeping up behind me

Leaving everthing aside, the number alone will do

Surprised not many are quoting the very our OWN SUMO !!! I have seen most of the Gangsta helpers arriving in Sumos (yeah in movies)...
In Bangalore, the cabbie Sumo's are more notorious than the one actually driven by original gangster/dada... Sumo with it's front grill (all made of pure Iron) doesn't really care for anyone in the front since they know that damage for Sumo is always minimum.

For me, i would rate Sumo followed by Scorpio from the Indian made.

These days, any white sedan with black tints, devanagari number plate, some political party symbol on the vehicle is an indication of "Stay Clear".
Add a bloodshot eyed dude, tons of bling, a VIP number and I give them a wide berth.

Sumos are scarry, but not Dadagiri in my opinion. They instill the fear that the driver behind you is a rash bronco who just wants to reach destination B before he completes his yawn

Dadagiri brings about some hidden commanded respect as well. ;-)

I think Scorpio (and Safari earlier) is the ONE car that can be largely associated with the "dada"s.

What will confirm it is :

- Black colour and equally black tinted windows
- Flag of a regional part on one side of the bonnet and imprint on the no. plate. No. plate being in the regional language
- it being occupied by a dark, pot-bellied men wearing transparent white kurtas, red tikka on the forehead, gold chain n bracelet and shades at all time of the day!

I think Xylo is soon catching up to the category.
The exceedingly rich (read: corrupt) ones afford a Pajero or CRV.

Well, once I was driving on Vizag beach road. While I was enjoying the cool evening breeze through my windows, I made a customory peek into the RVM and what I saw made me freeze, literally!! Guess what I saw??

A military tank, being driven away for Navy day celebrations!!! until this day nothing scared me more than that. And of all the cars, I really tend to budge before a Fortuner, if it is in my RVM, I inadvertantly make way!!

Well 'Dada' giri cars depends on the attitude of the 'Dada' inside .
Mostly these dudes tend to use SUVs with black tints , fancy number plates which have glimmer particles. Some god's name with "Prasanna" written really loudly and mostly in Orange. Or "Maa" , "Raaje" written. Their cohorts are easily recognizable by the fact that those folk tails the "Dada" giri car in a Sumo with loud blaring music. Most of them toting glares and fake gold chains and rings on them.
In general the size of the "Dada" (not physical) but w.r.t area of influence determines the car he moves in. It could be as lowly as an Alto and as high as a Range Rover.

I have seen some dada giri cars on road which are

Ford Endy - Black in colour
Tata Safari - White
Scorpio - Black
Bolero - with bluish grey
Modded Swift - red/black with tons of additions driven by a 5'5", french cut, sun glass on, clean shaved head .. take that!!!

And seen some Lancers in Gurgaon black in colour written Gujjar Boy in yellow and Innovas in white written Gowda's in red on the back.

PS:-I meant no offens to any community, its just the fear factor inside me

I once saw a Scorpio in Gurgaon coming up behind me. All black and it had a huge set of Bulls Horns adorning the hood.

Even before he came close behind me, I gave him way ;-)

Another simple form of dadagiri or goonda girir once upon a time were the maruti omnis. How many times we have seen abduction seens in the movies involving these vans

For me its Contessa Classic. picture this: A long hood, with flag firmly fixed on the bonnet, VIP number, tinted glass, sounds and lights of sirens, driven speedily to whisk away ministers knowing very well virtually nothing happens to whoever sitting inside. Unfortunately no one gets to see this now.

Picture this too: My maroon contessa classic, with chrome bumpers, big grill, fancy number, driven speedily on empty roads, driven majestically on city roads enough to scare away small cars, autowallas and demanding respect from even bus drivers too..

In todays scenario, i think fortuner demands to be a dadagiri car..

My Black Tata Safari 2010:
  • Dark Tints
  • Extra Wide Tyres 295/16/50 with Chrome Alloys
  • Number: PB 8 XX 8000
  • National Emblem on the Number Plate
Does that fit the bill . . . but i am no 'DADA'
