cheers:

Varun, You took the words right out of mind. I am and was told the same thing by well wishers (enigmatic problems), but I took a plunge and burnt my hands, but then I had to sell it off for the same reasons.
I wonder when will tata learn a lesson or we tell them that plz dont take us for a ride with your QC.
These are my own opinions.. I know lots of people who have had a good safari piece and those who didnt, but then I feel bad for the state of affairs w.r.t such breakdowns one has to bear. Some do have patience to wither along, but now ..I lack it.
No guesses from vehicles from other stables are really doing fine QC wise.

Cheers
Rahul

He is regular member at the TASS with some issue or the other and yet sings songs about Tata Quality for the simple fact that nobody should take him for a s****r.

A brand new 2.2 dropped dead within a fortnight of purchase. The dazed Customer was told the fuel was adulterated. This heavy weight got his gang and beat up the fuel station guys. He even broke an attenders arm. The Gas Station owner agreed to pay all the damages to this customer. TASS stuggled with their laptops to reset the ECU for over a week and then habitually started replacing parts systematically to get the thing started and when nothing happened they replaced the engine under warranty. Everytime I go to their workshop, which is quite often, I see a safari engine being replaced under warranty.

Why else would they offer you a chance to win a Safari on a purchase of Victa or a DI. (Coutersy Tata Ad on Neo Sport)

So long....

varun, hope your ordeal is over soon and you get a replacement ASAP.

dr.pullockaran, hope you get justice too.

After reading MadMonkey's thread on his Fiesta-D, which turned out to be a lemon, with lots of issues, and with Ford agreeing to replace the car (albeit with some cash outgo from MM), I guess it makes sense for Tata to replace this defective Sumo and get it over with, instead of dragging the case for ever, which would only get them negative publicity.

SUV, you forget that Manipal Motors are OP3 (opposite party) in this case. Tata Motors being OP1 and Bangalore RO OP2. Besides, there's nothing much that the dealer can do. Its the quality of the spares that let us down. The entire Job is being handled by The Tata Engineers directly. Infact MM is working like a Robot with the controls in TM's hands. Moreover, I personally feel that MM are far superior in their outlook. I have seen all the TASS in bangalore and few other places as well and would still recommend MM. I have no hang ups with MM and prefer the known devil any day.

And don't forget they are the No. 1 workshop in India for Tata Motors.

So long....
Agreed ...

My Point is why would OP3 fix the issues, if they did then its like the OP accepting that their were problem's in your Vehicle and also their
Deficiency in Service thereby making Tata's (OP1) agree that they sold a lemon to you ..... not to mention the false information the OP's have given in this case which amounts to making a mockery of the Judicial System .....

Varun,

I hope that sense finally prevails and TM comes around and replaces your vehicle. Please do keep up the pressure on your tormentors.

What I don't understand, why Tata is simply not replacing the car with a new one? It seems that Varun's car can hardly be fixed. It won't cost a fortune to Tata to give him a new car. They should do it to restore their reputation.

Far from it. They don't even want to acknowledge that there is a problem, even though it means replacing the parts again and again and again. They never seem to get tired of replacing parts. On 5th dec, 07 when the vehicle was left at the W/S ,they changed the complete clutch kit, Power steering gear box, seat belts, and stuff worth almost 100K. Like a good friend on this forum congratulated me on getting two cars for the cost of one. (The cost of replaced parts amount almost to the cost of the car) End of season sale - Buy one and take one free.

After driving for less than 500 kms all the problems returned once again and then the replacements start all over. It was the same story before the Court verdict and the same after it. On 3 occassions they informed me that the vehicle was ready for delivery and each time I had to tell them they have not done certain works that are mentioned in my complaint list. They then order the parts, wait for a week or so before replacing it. Imagine my plight ever since I bought this vehicle. I have never been able to enjoy the new car even for a moment without having the fear that it would go back to the W/S.

The Tata Motors guys never seem to have their visiting cards with them. They are scared to give you their mobile Nos and e-mail Ids. Even the mobile numbers given by them comes with a pre-warning that the mobile belongs to their friends but they do me a favour and let me talk to them.

And you talk about REPUTATION.... AH

So long....

Varun ... I really hope that you get your due from Tata...

As an ex Indica V2 owner, all I can say is that I am not buying another Tata product for at least the next decade.

My overall experience of owning that car was pathetic!

@Varun - I pray your ordeal ends soon; seeing this thread, I have decided to avoid (and even recommending to someone) any TATA vechicle.

WOW!! I spent the last two hours reading this thread and really disappointed with TATA

Hats off to Varun and his family for continuing this fight with lots of hope and determination against all the disappointment and frustrations.

Tata Motors have been forced to pull out this ( SUMO VICTA GX TC ) model from the market. Thanks, largely to this thread on this forum. Team-bhp has become a force to reckon with and cannot be ignored by any automobile maker in the present scenario.

They are unable to get a new vehicle even for a test drive to compare the pick-up and torque with my vehicle. I have insisted that I shall not take delivery of my vehicle unless a new car of the same model is available and driven over a fixed distance and the timings compared. Suggestion for any other mode of testing the engine condition of my vehicle is welcome from all members.

Whats even more scary is that what would I do if the new vehicle is as bad as my present one , or maybe even worse. Thats the confidence I have on Tata Motors right now. No more Tata Cars for me in this life.

So long....

What good would an a new vehicle do if it suffers from same problem as the present one? Tata know all about the quality (lack off) of their vehicles.

Better would be to offer another vehicle from the Tata line-up, and seek closure. And [s]hope[/s] pray that the other vehicle doesn't have as many issues.

EDIT: What's the code for strikethrough?! Humpf.

As most of you are aware, the vehicle is lying at the Manipal Motors Workshop after I refused to take delivery of it.

Right now the the matter is being taken up at National Consumer Redressal Forum at New Delhi. The first hearing is coming up on the 12th of this month. Whatever be the outcome atleast I will have the satisfaction of doing my best.

As always, Grateful for all your blessings and good wishes.
