Speaking about looks, I prefer design lines that match with the overall theme.

So the order is

- Punto - a perfect 10/10
- Polo - a bit boxier than the Punto
- the new i20 - good but can't overtake the simplicity in design of the Polo or the Punto.
- Beat - good design lines overall, but the people inside looks to be seated too low from the outside.
- new Swift - felt better bigger and sporty over the old one.

The rest are not lookers according to my eyes. The Figo misses by a whisker due to the huge rear quarter glasses and a needless bulge on the boot door. I felt the Eon to be too puny in overall size and a mismatch between the size of the tire and the wheel arches. The Micra carries matching design lines throughout but felt a bit bulbous for a car. The Hondas and the Toyotas are never lookers for me except the 1st gen City in India (too much of a looker in my books along with the Octavia).

1. Tata Nano
2. Fiat Punto
3. Maruti Swift (old, 2005 model)

just my two cents. Ranking purely on personal opinion and what i feel will withstand the rigours of time well and age gracefully.
All are simple, classic well-proportioned shapes which brought a breath of fresh air in their respective segments.

As of today,

#1 - Punto (fantastic looker from all angles)
#2 - Polo (superb front and sides, average rear)
#3 - "Fluidic" i20 (the fluidic theme looks fabulous on the front, rear disappoints)
#4 - Jazz (can't beat the spaceship, very understated looks all-around)
#5 - Pulse (narrowly over Fabia, just because of the bug-shaped exteriors)
