Nice price !

Where did the 1.4 petrol come from ? Is that a new Duratec engine or a modified Rocam ?

Now for the features. Hope we get them soon.

No, there are many other sizes in which duratec is available.... not just 1.4 or 1.6L, I remember to have seen this in a web link.... but probably it wasn't ford's official site.... some user group/club

From the pricing it would seem that the C segment shakedown which I predicted for 2006 has started off.

We will now see the others scrambling to get their act together and by the end of 2006 I'm sure we'll see a brand new C Segment with none of the older players doing any significant volumes (okay, except the Esteem which will still be selling to the Government sector).

Likely suspects:

Ford Fiesta, (new) Hyundai Accent which looks YUKK, Indigo LWB (with a Dicor engine?), Chevy Aveo (pricing is crucial), Suzuki Liana...M&M Logan. And finally the NHC might actually have to shed some of its premium and come down to a more realistic price point.

I just visited metro ford, one guy showed me the car both diesel and petrol but said brochures/test drive will be available in a couple of days while prices are going to be announced after 26th! looked like he didn't know what he was saying.... so talked to another guy who looked to be more confident .... he told that prices will be flashed by evening on NDTV!

By the way, today with the launch of fiesta, they have discounted fusion... by 30K, 60K and 90K resp. from lowest to the highest model....going by delhi and tamilnadu ex-showroom prices, it looks like fusion will be made cheaper than the fiesta ( assumming ex-showroom prices do not change much across cities.... is that true?). roughly, highest fusion model will be around the base fiesta...

Holy cow! This pricing is a shakedown of the Indian car industry, especially the C segment. If this car is as good as Autocar claims in their review, it will force the competing models to reduce price or perish. Short of Petra I don't see any other C segment car that has been spared by this sneaky price attack. This borders on predatory pricing.

Looks like Ford is over-correcting their ovepricing mistake of last year on Fusion. The consumer is the winner!
