News just in - flashed on CNBC:
Ford is likely to price the base model diesel Fiesta at Rs. 5.8 lacs. The top end petrol is expected to cost Rs. 7.7 lacs.
Are we looking at a market killer?

At those prices, it should be goodbye everyone else. I think the TBHP votes will now shift from the Baleno to the 1.6 litre Fiesta, if it handles as well as it is alleged to.

Pity the poor blokes who paid a couple of lakhs more for the Fusion, though. Two of my best friends will be tearing their hair in frustration.

Isnt it supposed to be the other way round ... base Petrol at 5.8 and Top end diesel at 7.7 ?

Considering base Petrol at 5.8 L ... I think its going to be a giant killer. I have booked my Test Drive on the coming 18th of this month.

I suppose so...top end petrol at 7.7 doesnt make sense, neither does the new common rail diesel at 5.8..

Wonder whether they will continue with the Flair, and if yes its probably curtains for the Esteem as well. One bird gets em all????

Aditya, it just sounds too good to be true, thats it.

At these prices, Hyundai will start selling the Accent CRDis for a lakh cheaper and the ford is a sure winner, all the way.

Lets get prices confirmed tomorrow. I cant wait another 9 hours for the prices.

I hope neither you nor the CNBC news feed entry guys made any mistake .. cause if what you read is true , I think its going to be a market shaking news and a first of sorts.

No matter how bad the build quality, performance, looks etc. etc. maybe ..the price tag of 5.8 for the imported crdi engine just seems to be too good to be true ....

I fully trust( and hope and pray) what you read maybe right ...but, lets just wait for a couple of hours and everything will be clear ...

Then we all can go and get a test drive and share our views ...

I always had a feeling that Ford would get it right this time and it seems that they have ... its good to learn from mistakes ...and since they have made lots ...seems like they have also learnt a lot ...

Waiting for the first test drive by a T-BHP'ian ....

are you sure 5.8l for base diesel and top petrl for 7.7l.if its true, expect the petrol model to have a mp3 player, abs, discs all around, alloys and all the gizmos you can think of.i guess they are targeting the honda city vtec priced at 8l(delhi).and gunning for the indigo, accent with the diesel.cant wait and see what hapens.i hope the price is correct.and i think they are not goin to discontinue the ikon.thats the reason why they reducedthe prices of the ikon 1.6.they have actually filled the whole commuter segment with just 2 models...the ikon and the fiesta.4.5l-7.7l.way to go ford, cant wait to see what f.e. figures the diesel churns out.

I do not know which two blokes that you are talking about.
But i simply do not fancy a three box sedan.

My hair is still in place.

the pricing is *very* attractive, if true. But I smell a rat. This may be 'marketing' pricing - base model ex-showroom Delhi. Most (and buy-able) models may be much more. 7.5-8 on road Blore I'd guess

They're launching the hatch too ? The CDI diesel hatch will be something, if priced right

No, that is just (intentionally) poor reporting on indiatimes' part. Those are probably pictures of the UK Fiesta, except for the one with Arvind Mathew.
