Has to be the Chevy Cruze Automatic for me. With the way bangalore traffic is, an automatic is a must. The Cruze AT is probably the only fun to drive car in the sub 20L segment.

The Laura and Jetta are above 20L and I just wouldn't be at peace of mind driving the DSG's.

Current: Ford Figo Petrol
Likes: a great VFM car, dynamics, high speed stability, space and Ford's service (costs).
Dislikes: Low FE (11Kmpl in Bangalore)

Next Car: a Diesel, a mini SUV with better GC. Would like to continue with a Ford, say Ford Ecosport or the Duster.
Other alternative would be a Jazz 'Diesel AT' (that would be great).

Current Car: None

Next Car: Pretty ambitious for a first car, it will be a Fiat GP 90 HP.
Unless the upcoming budget manages to tax diesel cars heavily and remove/reduce the subsidy on diesel. In that case, I can afford a Honda City Corporate 2012 for the same price.

Well, it does not feature in 2012 models yet, I found out the same from Fiat website as well. But from a different thread on Fiat 2012 models here, I found out that they'd launch refreshed T-Jet sometime in June-July this year.

I want the smallest possible car with an automatic shift - but I also want it loaded to the gills with gizmos and safety equipment like bluetooth sync, steering controls, ABS, Airbags etc. The only one currently meeting the criteria is the i10; I wish the Chevy Spark came with those features - I prefer how it looks to the rather staid looks of i10.

Currently I'm pretty much obsessed with the Ford Ecosport as my next car, hopefully a couple of years down the line. I like the concept and I'm sure the 1L Ecoboost engine is going to be kick-*** in performance. Based on the Fiesta platform, it will be a great drive. And its size will be very manageable in the city.

So it will mostly be my next car, unless something even more delicious pops up in the < 10 Lakh category.

Edit: Maybe a Polo 1.5 TDi may make me change my mind...

Present wheels: Fiat Punto 2009 epk D

What i like: Ride, comfort, stability over poor roads, equipment levels: bluetooth, climate control, steering controls; efficiency@ 20 kmpl with ac, looks.

What i hate: interior plastics, lack of space, driving/steering position, low ground clearance, after sales service, nothing to write about engine performance.

What I want in my next car:

Diesel engine: for low running costs
Aesthetics: On road presence
Performance: for joy of riding
good after sales
interior space
Decent equipment levels

Considering the present day vehicles available in India, a suitable upgrade will be the MAHINDRA XUV 500

CtrlAltDel & iliketurtles thank you for you replies. I wish Honda would consider bringing an automatic version of the Jazz sooner. It is the perfect city car (esp for Goa's narrow roads), great mileage, interior space, safety features and the magic seat would be great when taking the family pet dogs to the vet or for a ride
Was reading today that Maruti will be launching an automatic version of the Dzire by mid-Febuary. Will get my parents to also test the Honda City (A) before deciding.

Current Car: Honda Civic SMT '11
Next Car: Atleast Skoda Superb/Fortuner

Reason: I took a loan so I will not be changing my car for the next 5 years. But when the time comes I expect my salary to be at least 2-4 folds more than my current salary if not more. So since I will be done with C+ segment, it would be time to enter the D segment.
Though if I get married in the next 5 years, I'm sure wifey won't let me buy it :P
