There is nothing as a 1.0 kappa. The engines will remain the same for the Indian market. A 900 cc 80 hp turbocharged 3 cylinder mill was in the works, but it may be reserved for the export markets. Improving the bottom end driveability of the 1.2 kappa will be more than sufficient to make the i10 a better all rounder.

+1 to what @sidindica has said,

Moreover, if at all Hyundai feels to do something for the AK10 competition, it will only tinker the Santro and probably make it even more cheaper.

Touching its cash cow, the i10, would be a mistake it would not do, just for the sake of satisfying competition.

IMO, Hyundai may rework the 1.1L 4-cyl engine and make it 1.0L 4-cyl, call it 1.0L Kappa (repeating history?)! Here the advantages for Hyundai 1L engine will be:

1. The engine is 4-cyl, compared to Maruti's 3cyl K-series.
2. Cost advantage - being an older engine compared to K-series and Spark engines, cost can be less.

With the K series being shared in A-star, Zen Estilo, WagonR and now in the Alto, I am sure Maruti enjoys lower cost due to mass production!

IMO, a family man who wishes to travel with his brood in relative comfort would still go for i10 over k10.
But i10 will never be able to match the price of Alto, which simply steals the deal! The gap is huge, not just a few thousands!

IMO Verna Transform looks even more pathetic, that's just my opinion and no offence to anyone who has recently bought it!
But the new Elantra (Avante) looks terrific!

As far as I know, the 1.0L Kappa is only for Export markets while the Indian market will continue to have the Epsilon 1.1L and Kappa 1.2L versions.

And I am sure Hyundai will never pit i10 as a direct competitor to Alto. If they decide to do so, it will either be with Santro immediately or they would probably wait until the new 800cc car comes out.

Looking at the pic, it seems the new i10 will have longer headlights, in line with the ones on the Beat..

I guess this is a Variable Valve Timing added to the 1.2 to get better mileage, power whatever( make up for 4bhp deficit compared to the K12!??)

Nice catch there, we did'nt have side views of this. And yes, this is not the
diesel, VTVT is not used by Hyundai on any diesels. For the verna, they call it
VGT (of course it stands for the variable geometry turbo which may not be
used in an i10 diesel) - unless they added it to sidetrack attention from the real deal.

Make it look beat-like, that means i20-like and ritz-like (from the front and from a distance) even my trained eyes mistake one for the other. Maruti and Hyundai are going for the jugular with every release,no every facelift!!

nice catch.. yes the i10 facelifted mule is doing tests near chennai since long time but so far no one has caught the VTVT badging.

Hyundai with this facelift will try to bring the i10 styling into its fluid sculpture styling which is being used by other models.
