I doubt it Sid. This will be the 1.5L engine, and its going to be a substantial premium over Figo D. Dont think Figo is going anywhere.

However i am very keen to know how Nissan would have tuned this engine.

The FE figures are not ARAI tested. When you(nissan) mention its the best in its class, you should also have the test figures mentioned from the same testing company. That IMO would make more sense.

As for the prices, i too have doubt it will "bye bye" Figo since the top end petrol is priced at 5.28 (Ex-showroom) so going by the standards the diesel will be priced 1L above, thus making it 6.28(Ex showroom)

But again this is just my opinion

Great !!

Another diesel hatch. Don't you just love competition. Given Nissan's pricing premium over Ford, I doubt it will impact Ford Figo sales.

If the launch an Diesel AT, I will replace my Santro AT right away.

Nissan Micra diesel finally launched
Was going through The Tribune today when I came across the advertisement featuring Ranbeer Kapoor with Nissan Micra in diesel avtar. They have just opened the bookings and have not disclosed the price. The car may be available in a month time. However they have mentioned the mileage which is ARAI certified 23.08 kmpl. Its a good move in time by Nissan seeing the good response to the petrol variant and making its presence felt before one more competitor enters the arena and make the already intense rivalry more fierce.

It is sub 1.5l engine and as Micra is sub 4m car it is eligible for excise duty rebate.

@Dar3dev

The FE is as per central motor vehicle rule 1989 test 115

If it is priced with base model starting around Rs 4.5 lacs, it will surely give Figo and swift a run for money and Vista will take a bigger hit.

Nissan's success will happen quite easily once they get their dealer network and service network act together and expand the scope and reach of the same.

It will take quite a while for a Nissan to catch up on the After Sales Service count, with other stalwarts like Suzuki, Toyota, Honda and even Ford on account of the head start that they have.

This company should be as reliable as Toyota and Honda. It deserves more success in India.

The fuel economy of 23.08km/l certainly makes it the most fuel efficient in its class. Let's just hope that the pricing is not too high. Micra diesel is a killer. A 950kg car powered by a logan engine (68bhp?) should be a mini diesel pocket-rocket.

As someone who has a logan diesel - I can vouch for the FE. That figure is achievable in the bigger heavier logan.

The ligher Micra should get 23 kmpl easily.

I highly doubt. Figo is selling around 7000 nos. whereas Micra Petrol is selling 1000 odd nos. With launch of Diesel Micra i see total Micra sales around 2000+ per month. So thats still way below Figo's nos. And Nissan needs to open more dealerships to get into volumes.

What kind of a "bookings open" announcement is this? No stats or ex-showroom prices provided?
