Decreasing order "Mix of feedback & precision"

1. Mercedes E Class E350 Diesel "OMG what a car when i drove it it felt like heaven there is less feedback than i would like but its great and precise, loved the feel and drive"

2. Fiat Linea 1.3L Diesel "Good feedback and precise enough overall a very nice drivers car under 15Lac."

3. Honda Civic "Nice heavy feedback enough to make girls say ahhh my solders hurt"

4. ANHC "The irony Civic has a heavy steering but its good non the less the ANHC on the other hand is rubbish very stupid move by Honda but people say its better than what it had on the NHC so i guess its a move in the right direction"

5. Hyundai i20 Diesel "Not good at all super scary at speeds of 80-100kph, it can turn even when you take off your hand to switch the radio station or song"

Forget the figo - period. I have the NHC ZX too, and the Figo is an entirely different animal. Ditto for Punto too.
i10 is the one you want.

Or maybe stretch the budget and get a Polo. It is the closest to NHC IMHO.

As a matter of fact, I too have developed a liking towards the way Santro's steering feels. Its the PS one, the non PS one had loads and loads of under-steer.

Agree with everybody else - i10 comes pretty close to NHC when it comes to lightness of steering (among the cars shortlisted there). Although i10's steering is light, after a turn, it comes to the straight ahead (centre) position with a little more gusto than NHC.

Has someone who had driven both an NHC and i20 please give a brief comparison of the two.

I currently have an NHC, and may be getting an i20, but I don't want to buy the car if the steering feel will actually be worse than the NHC's.
The most important factor is how i20 feels at high speeds.
Even if steering feel is same as NHC's I'll consider that acceptable.

Thanks

My vote:
Best across all categories/models - Ford.
Small car - 5 Speed 800. I haven't driven the zen.

Pretty lifeless ones - Hyundai i 10 (non AT) , Tata Indigo GLX,Tata Indica (LPG)

Pretty toyish (aided by seating position etc) - Omni, Gypsi

Santro's steering is alright.

I do drive the accent when I am in Kerala and must say that when the first time I test drove in 2003, felt - what the heck - is this the stuff the new cars are made of? Was scared to rip it on highways since the steering was too light (was driving a M800 in Bangalore then). Got used to it eventually however the steering feedback of the Esteem (2001 VX) is far better.

Gearbox - Haven't driven anything till date that has the butter smooth (long throws) shift of the Accent (save the reverse gear). May be because I haven't driven anything from the new generation (except SX4 and Dezire)

* Best feedback - Palio GTX;
* Worst - Waron R ( even the old Amby. But Amby can be excused for just about anything!).

Fiat Linea
Maruti 800
Maruti Alto

Octavia has a nice weighty heavy steering feel - almost to the point of being incovenient (but I liked it). However, Laura's (1.8 TSI) steering is a lot lighter - has a lower feel than, say, Honda Civic or Linea/Fiesta.
