Sorry to disappoint you. Some do not consider the Scorpio an SUV. Whether its true or not we can argue till the cows come back, but not all in the industry calls the Scorpio an SUV.

^^ Oh my God. I'm running to a Tata showroom now itself to book an Old Safari . That one in that picture is downright ugly in the front, rest anyway is a Tata Safari body only. It seems more like very shoddy PS job instead of the real thing.

+1. This is downright ugly. Pathetic PS job I would say. And if its going to look like this, then I wil buy a used safari. Hope they dont mess much with the looks of the car.

This is the worst thing that could happen to Safari. So far TML has not delivered a downright ugly car. And I don't think the track record would change in the future.

The spypics of tata merlin are on the net. But launch dated as 2012. The current safari looks better than this one.Atleast the one showed here

^^^ Had a word, regarding new Safari, with a sales rep of a dealer in Noida. He told me, very confidently, that I should not expect the new version to come before Diwali at least. So yeah, 2012 seems reasonable.

EDIT: He also told that the current Safari would definitely be better looking and both versions would continue to be sold.

Ok folks here is the story. Johny the designer at M&M lost his job after Xylo was launched and then he was fighting depression by spending nights on a whiskey boat. He made friends with Johny Sr. who heads Quality at TML. Naturally they became friends and Johny Sr. offered the other a job to showcase creativity (which never bloomed at M&M) and offered a change in scenery. Now we have two Johnies who have given us the same Safari (hopefully not with same quality), with a rendition of now-(in)famous Walrus tooth. Shaky hands, and splashed chrome all over.

WoW, I just love our Indian auto industry. First they continue to live off past glory for about 15 years just because of a timeless design, which they kill on the 15th year and change some parts like a grill, which have nothing to do with THE CAR but it kills the design in seconds. Only because they just take the forgiving public, for granted, once again.

Ridiculous is the word. Disgusting is another. What a bad day.
