So at some stage you also 'may' have to deal with MSIL directly. Set aside my case (on when I did it), but when I tried, there wasn't much of a positive response.
Leave aside if its first step or last step, MSIL hasn't responsed well at all by any standards. Thats the whole BUZZ Iam making. MSIL is NOT available too easily for a general customer. That is a very very serious issue at that. Atleast now people will understand what Iam talking about.

And Arun, let me clear it one last time. I tried to take the MSIL step from the onset because, my Service Advisor after speaking with his Manager said he just won't come and pick my car from office. He also added that had it been some issue which happened part of a mistake from their end they would have. They were talking as if they are washing their hands off the whole issue. That is when I called MSIL Customer Care to start with, then Regional Office and then Head Office. I wanted to know then whose fault it is when a car starts leaking like that.

And now I got the answer from MSIL, it my fault (or unluck).

UPDATE:
Just now RNS returned my car after refixing the glass and replacing the sealant. Driver showed me the bill which read Rs.1200 (Covered under Warranty). And just moments back, finally after 2 days, I got a reply from MSIL Customer Care saying they have 'forwarded' my issue to the concerned department. BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!!!

But the war still continues. Thank god I have my car back and don't need to fill petrol in that stupid standby car which they gave me. I spent my full 15 days diesel in that car in 3 days.

Good to hear that the issue is fixed.

Get the car checked in detail (if possible with an expert) especially windshield area for any sign of accident/damage/repaint. This will help you to come to a conclusion and not to worry about some unexpected things in the future.

Also check the VIN/Chasis number to know the exact manufacturing date and verify it with your purchase date.

Love it. Crazy. Completely crazy!

For that only I had sent a 2nd email to the very same email id's of Maruti right from Pankaj Narula (Chief General Manager, Service) to Customer care email. Still the result is the same ===> NO RESPONSE absolutely. Atleast if one person had called I wouldn't have been so complacent.

I know exactly what you are going through since I am going through a similar experience with Hyundai.

No one is bothered to respond to me inspite of all the proofs I have provided to them. There are otehr serious issues in my car but like you I too am facing a water leakage issue in my i20 and inspite of all the evidence (including a video clip), neither the company nor the dealership is bothered to acknowledge the issue or respond.

Dear Sam,
We also had a terrible time with Maruti. Now they are not ready to do the repair under warranty.I think you will lose your time and peace of mind by going to consumer court. The answers to emails comes very late.First reply to my 5 emails took 10 days.So don't check email frequently(like I did).

Our experience with the Bangalore regional office has been horrible.I think the MAS and the regional office fellows work together to void the warranty! Probably these fellows (at regional office) will get some commission and MAS will get the labor charges. Please take a job card for registering all the complaints.I think you can learn something from our experience. There is no point in fighting with anyone at MAS.Maruti will go to any extend to void warranty.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...-warranty.html (Swift Diesel.Vdi - Ownership report.Facing problems -Maruti refuses to honor warranty)

My advice would be to get it repaired at some good service centre.Do you have the e-mail address and postal address of the MD Maruti. Can you please PM me.As a last resort I am planning to send an email to him.

Seems to be a standard business procedure: ignore anyone making a complaint.

+1 to this.

Sam,
Hope your issue is fixed now. Have you tried to check if its getting reproduced any more after refixing it?

UPDATE: It seems that the leak is finally fixed I tried my 'water test' twice and it was completely ok! In fact I could see the new 'thicker' sealant all along the border of the glass, so I knew this time they had done what was required - they replaced the full sealant and refixed the glass.

But still no one ever called from MSIL despite my mails to customer care, RM, GM etc. Kudos to Maruti!! Dealer though has called me thrice by now and we are back to normal in 'relations' by now

Happy to know that your issue has been resolved. To make doubly sure that the seals works, park the car in the sun for a good couple of hours and then try the 'water leak test' that you have devised.
The heat would expand the A pillar and front end roof beam(the border forming the front windshield) and if the car is leak proof then you can be happy with the workmanship.

Ahh! Finally I get to see a smiley in Sam's post ! Good that you are happy now. And trust me, they should have been blasted by Maruti guys and this is exactly why they are doing so many follow ups.

Ah Ah! Do I see a new war starting for the sealant being thicker?
[on a lighter side]

Sorry to hear that, but do you have a thread created on this? Could you provide a pointer? May be you could IM or paste it in this thread if you feel appropriate.

Sorry to hear about issues with your car Sam, but swift windscreen leaking is a known issue from 2007(Too bad they haven't been able to fix it, yet).

You should have done a search in t-Bhp itself. In my case, I escalated to maruti and got a prompt response, the regional manager(or some equivalent) sardar came and ordered Pratham to remove and refix glass. They were playing the same, 'could not reproduce' thing.
