I have seen people going to check out the Figo, and ending up asking questions like- why not the status of a sedan (ikon) at no so much of an extra cost! Figo is driving more people to the showrooms for sure, and its effect will rub-off on the ikon as well.

Interesting (but expected) to see the sales figures of Punto and Linea!

Hi,
If you can give the split of Petrol/Diesel for Swift, Ritz, Dezire then it would be easy to findout whether the winner is Maruti or Fiat's engine?
Thanks,
SANSI

Santro manages close to 7k mark man unbeleivable. Hyundai seems to be the topper in all their hatch backs followed by ritz, figo and beat.Sad to see that no one is buying punto.

One of my friend booked a figo in november and took delivery and made payment in december. We went to several ford showrooms and everyone encouraged us to buy figo but at the time warned us about a very good offer/discount on a coming december to clear the lot . Therefore many figo aspirants over there booked for december 4-5 delivery . The offer did came but was only about ikon with cash discount of 70000 while figo's offer was lower interest rate. I hope that might be one of the reasons for figo low sale or others as well. The numbers will look more realistic after december stats.

Good to see Nano back to its usual numbers.

More reason to believe that the numbers last month were more of an aberration and could very well be due to some bottleneck in the supply chain.

Bad numbers for manza - Toyota Etios, as expected, is already having an impact on manza's sales with buyers waiting for it?

Some more Dec sales news: (Source: DNAIndia.com)

After witnessing a slower growth in November, auto sales picked up in December owing to attractive year-end schemes and anticipation of price hikes.
Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), the country’s second-largest car manufacturer, sold 26,168 units last month, a 17.6% rise over 22,252 units sold in December 2009.
“New products like the Santa Fe as well as upgrades such as the ‘Next-Gen’ i10 have been very well received and we continue to be a strong player in the domestic market. We expect the market to continue to grow in 2011 although the rate of growth may come down somewhat,” said Arvind Saxena, director - marketing and sales, HMIL.

Tata Motors passenger vehicle business reported a 28% rise in its total domestic sales in December 2010 at 19,977 units (19,706 Tata + 271 Fiat) as against 15,661 units (14,654 Tata + 1,007 Fiat) reported in December 2009. Nano sales, which were at all-time low in November at 509 units, touched 5,784 units last month, about 60% higher over December 2009

Mahindra & Mahindra’s passenger vehicles segment also registered a growth of 28%, having sold 15,601 units in December 2010, as against 12,212 units during December 2009.

Ford India’s year-on-year December sales were up 172%. The company is riding high on its hatchback — Figo — with more than 60,000 units sold in India since its launch in March last year.

Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) and General Motors saw a marginal rise in sales. TKM sales grew 5% on-year with 6,359 units sold in December 2010.

General Motors sold 8,468 units against 8,258 units sold in December 2009, a rise of 2.5%.

Damn! Fiat seems to be on a slippery downward slope....really unfortunate- great cars but very low uptake- the market confidence in Fiat is pretty poor and the irony is that every visit to a TATA service or sales center only reinforces this perception.

Fiat needs to set up some exclusive dealerships, and fast.....
