Honestly, am surprised that an in line six with the N52B30 developing ~ 250-275 bhp and ~ 300 Nm of torque in a Bimmer chassis could be disappointing in performance.

Regards, drive safe
Going by the numbers it is quite good performance wise. I guess the Tbhp testers expected much more from it when tested, possibly thats why they were disappointed. That said, personally I would choose a 3.2fsi over the 3, but thats just because I love Audis.

I was wondering why doesn't BMW offer the 3 with an MT option. A Manual transmission version of Corporate Edition 3 series should atleast make it cheaper by a Lakh rupees. It will also make it more appealing to petrolheads, not everyone wants an Automatic.

Guys, the 330i is anything BUT disappointing. It's free-revving, it pulls hard, and it's RWD. It's SUPER fun with all the electronic aids (TC, EBD, ESP) off. It has two modes where you can tone down the help from the electronics one notch, or go all the way down with no aids at all. Those who have driven a powerful RWD will tell you how much more fun it is over an AWD car. Sure AWD feel super safe in rainy or snowy conditions, but it's fun you want, BMW is the way to go. You will need to have your wits about you at the limit, but RWD's will put a smile on your face I know this, because I've driven both the cars in question.

bottom line, is the 320d worth the money, only for fun factor?

now what will be the cost of this car in the used car market 3 years down the line?
half the cost or lesser.

^BMW is worth the money for a lot more.

1. You get the badge.
2. You get the most sorted out chassis in the segment.
3. You get the frugal diesel that can take to the India fuel quality well.
4. Second hand market is receptive to the diesel Teutons than petrols.
5. Comparing the servicing both are equally expensive.

6. It is outstanding fun with the torque and because it revvs too.

IMHO India still does not have the road infrastructure to max out the potential of even AUDI's.

Did anyone take a proforma invoice while it was being offered at this price? I recently bought a used e46 320i and I need an invoice to pay up the *gasp* road tax in Bangalore. Could any of you who got the proforma at 23-24L send me a copy? Pretty please!!

PS : sorry for resurrecting an old thread!
