What kind of expenses would i need at this state of engine running? Authorized Service is absolutely nil right? and spares are few and far between? i am actually buying it as a stop gap measure during the winter. intend to sell it off by march 2011 and buy a new car then. My budget is low right now and hence this decision.
In that case buy an M800 or something similar for that kind of money. Selling an Astra a few months later would be one of the greatest challenges of your life.

From the recent research while selling my Palio, I would say anything between 1.2-1.4L would be a good deal.

very good price mate!
OTR Bangalore is around 8L AFAIK after discounts.

You are getting almost 20% off for just a 4-month-old car.
Very good deal indeed!

its very good price IMO, if you like jazz then you should just go for it, since current financial year is not complete, you can claim 7.5% depreciation on it as well bringing down your effective price by another 7.5%.

Hi Guys,

Is there any thumb rule by which Second hand cars are valued? leaving aside special cases like accidents, lots of dent etc.?

I have SX4 Vxi version. Regd. Apr 2008 (first owner)
have done, seat covers, reverse parking, under chassis, teflon coating, remote locking, fog lamps.

Have clocked 28,000 kms now.

Service done frequently. Very well maintained. Have claimed insurance once nearly 1.5 years back. Not for any road accident.

What can i expect for this car.

Mohit, you should go for it. Honda's are reliable petrol heads and would be a good choice for ~6L budget.

What would the best price for a New Honda City ZX, 2006 model. It has run 70k kms and is in very good condition. The owner is quoting Rs.5 Lakhs.

This is for a friend who is buying his first car. Is it even worth (for him) going for a car which has run 70k kms. What would be a fair price for this?

addy, better to stick to cars maintained well and run <50K. BTW 5L is not a huge ask for a well maintained car, but 4.6L would be a more apt price. Again I'm not an expert here, but did some market research recently while selling my Palio and buying Xylo.

I recently Sold my Zen Vxi (2004 registered) to Tata Assure for 2.3 lakhs with 90K on the ODO !!!
(Maruti True value offered 2.1 Lakhs)

It was well maintained and Single Owner. I purchased this vehicle for 3.5 lakhs back in 2004 (after all the discounts offered during Dussera period), not a bad deal since it depreciated just by 35% over 6 Years !!!

IMO, Some vehicles have greater resale value over others.. That includes Zen (Pre Estilo period) !!! Negotiate hard with the dealer to get the best deal. Don't hesitate to walk away if you are not convinced !!!
