Just bought and 03 Esteem VXi. My 99 Zen will be up for grabs the week after next, and I will miss it. I'd love to keep it and let my mom and/or wife (soon!) drive it, but my damn building doesn't have any more parking space. I still hope it stays within the family...

The old Zen with its cute looks was an icon. I feel it lost its character after the face-lift. Maruti should offer the Alto Vxi again as a replacement for the Zen. They should load it with a few more goodies to distinguish it from the Lxi.

Maruti should say goodbye to the Zen with a limited edition which has :

1.The Esteem engine and gearbox
2. Fatter rubber on 13"(at least) alloys
3. Beefed up suspension with the works
4. Snazzy exterior and interior trim

...then RIP zen

boy i think first thing maruti should do is stop the model m800
it has already been replaced by alto unless some masses go in for 800 and go gaga over its FE
zen shouldnt be stopped may be a better facelift can work better
its always a killer considering the traffic
800 continues despite being 20 years old then why cant a 15 year old can be held
zen was in my point of view a decent vehicle till santro came
mostly it was together parked in the homes along big cars
it was an allrounder we will miss it maybe not the present one the type1 and typ2

its the coolest car ever..i have never owned one ever ..but my friends did i loved driving zens..my friend recently was in a good mind to trade his year esteem for a zen coz he missed his old on so much ...i would pick a zen over much costlier and "better" cars ...

those of us who love zen can never compromise ...surprisingly there are very of 'em on this forum ..

Weather or not the Zen will be missed depends on how good its replacement is. As for me, its a great car but 15 years on teh market is lil too much.

If there is one thing that MUL should stop production of is the New Zen... & go back to the old one. My 2002 Zen is the love of my life & by far it is the best product to have rolled out from MUL.

Being an owner of a zen (type 2, mpfi), I think it’s the best small car money can buy…its so damn compatable for mods and u can zip in the city like on a bike…. Its got a better brand name than any car in the maruti stable and also among the Indian cars. It’s the bad boy’s pocket rocket and the most desirable among the young crowd. What makes it even more appealing is the jelly-bean design(the best Suzuki did so far) , the compactness, reliability, ease to maintain, parking ease and the best of all is that fact that any mod will look good on a zen.. Maruti, I know is doing a really stupid thing, instead they gotta re-vamp the zen with bigger wheels, 1.1L engine, longer wheelbase and trust me it will be the best selling small car. The much proposed diesel engine in the zen will be exotic!
