Could any1 tell what the TATA figures are? I just wanna compare TATA with Maruti. Mainly, Indica (all variants) with Alto/Zen/WagonR.

Ford Down:
Chennai-based Ford India’s tally dipped to 4,632 units for January 2007 which was lower than 5,173 in January 2006. Sales were primarily driven by the company’s newly launched mid-sized sedan Fiesta followed by the Ikon and Fusion.

Skoda Marginally up:
Skoda Auto India achieved sales worth 1,032 units with a growth of 11.32 per cent over last years January total of 927 units.

Toyota down?
I would be curious to know about Toyota's figures - they have not announced it as yet..

I wonder if the Sonata sales are because of the diesel introduction.. Looks like they have to do something about the Tuscon - hardly any takers.. Probably the figures reflect what has been sold to the dealers ;-)..

Hmmm, the Esteem/Baleno combo is almost there with the Accent/Verna. Not bad.

City sales seem to have come down a bit. Maybe due to the joint effort from Fiesta, now resurgent Aveo, Verna, the Baleno etc.

And for a 12L+ car, the Civic's numbers at 1,776 would be the envy of competitors. Though tbhp-ians in general seem to be pretty lukewarm to the car.

here, 2007 Tata's sale data.

Tata Motors sales up 19%

On the back of the highest ever sales of its hatchback model 'Indica' since launch, homegrown auto major Tata Motors on Thursday reported 19 per cent increase in total vehicle sales in January at 55,440 units (including exports) against 46,635 units in the same month last year.

The company said total passenger vehicle sales stood at 22,801 units in the domestic market, up 10 per cent compared to last year.

The Indica reported its highest ever monthly sales since launch, at 14,466 units, a growth of 14 per cent over January 2006, it added. The Indigo family clocked 3,207 units, a decline of 17 per cent over the same period last year.

The Sumo and Safari accounted for sales of 5,128 units, a growth of 20 per cent over January 2006, with Safari reporting highest ever sales for any month since launch, it added.

On the commercial vehicles front, sales in the domestic market stood at 28,896 units, up 36 per cent over 21,301 units sold in January last year. Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles sales stood at 17,097 units, a growth of 31 per cent over January 2006, while Light Commercial Vehicle sales were 11,799 units, a growth of 44 per cent over January 2006.

Cumulative passenger sales for the fiscal in the domestic market stood at 1,79,811 units, an increase of 21 per cent over the previous year, it said. Commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were 2,40,594 units, an increase of 46 per cent over last year, it added.

I guess, for quite sometime, NHC has been the largest-selling sedan in India. In fact, only M800, Omni, Alto, Indica, Santro, Wagon R & Swift sell more than NHC. Along Civic, these numbers are remarkable for Honda.

MSDivy, I would be very interested to see the breakup of the "All Ford" numbers as I would think the Fiesta would be very close to the City. Lemme see if it can be fished out from somewhere in the next couple of weeks

You have a point there. With not much happening on the Mondeo front and limited sales for the Fusion and Endeavour, it is possible that the bulk of the sales was from the Fiesta. The Flair still manages some numbers, I guess.
It would also be interesting to know the Petrol vs Diesel breakup for the Fiesta.

Could be. Fiesta's 'Diet Diesel' campaign could have done the trick.

Yeah, would have provided the required impetus to the fence-sitters.

Hey... Have an interesting figure for us to debate on...

(Source: ACI jan and feb 2007)

Sales chart Nov 2006
Indica: 13047
Santro: 12387
WagonR: 11449
Swift: 4389

Sales chart Dec 2006
Indica: 10588
wagonR: 9807
Santro: 9663
Zen estilo: 5838
Swift: 4959

Seems Maruti sales rose very much with the launch of the new zen...

Santro suffered more than wagonR... WagonR sales etched a bit above Santro sales (which doesnt usually happen)... and comibined with estilo sales... They really have the segment in control... Interesting to note... Swift sales also grew (when most others in the chart fell in numbers)...

Its now 6 Maruti Suzuki cars in top- 10

Its definetely because of LPG option on WagonR. Probably Hyundai missed the trick. Its time they launched Diesel/CNG/LPG Santro.

With Tucson, Sonata, Elantra, Getz not doing well and with Accent being phased out, that leaves only Santro & Verna for Hyundai.
