Excellent efforts.
A very meaningful analysis which lead to conclusion which launch has caused some ruffled feathers.

Cheers
P.S A plot of change per month progressively will eliminate the need to magnify lower part. Else upload the xls file with plot I'll help doing it.

Hi friends,
Based on some of your requests,
  • i am uploading the excel file with the data.
  • adding the Etios figures to the league.
One point to remember is that the cumulative graph has been started from Aug, while the Vento figures has started flowing from Sep and Etios from Jan. However, what is more important to be seen is the gradiant of the graphs.
Another request to all here, is not to modify the original file, so that anyone of us can keep updating the same each month in the same format for a common understanding. Further analysis in different ways are also welcome but please upload in another file if in the same thread.
Attached Files
File Type: xls car sales.xls (26.5 KB, 187 views)

I am trying to do this but due to large difference in the absolute value of gradient, results are not upto the mark. Still for the benefit of others i am uploading the chart of monthly differential values on progressive scale.

Cheers

Good analysis Sanagg. This is also an important factor to be seen every month which is coming out clearly from the graph. Only 2 requests on making the graph easily understandable:
  • If you can invert the Y axis, it will be easier to catch the relevance. For example, when Linea sales goes up from Dec to Jan, the line will show up and not down. Same for all other cars.
  • Kindly change the legend colours suitably so that each car is represented by a distinct colour/symbol. It is becoming difficult to read the graph.
Thanks again & waiting for you to upload the modified graph again.

Updated for the month of Feb 11.

Important takes:
1. Indigo sales back to same rate as seen till Oct10.
2. The NEW STAR VENTO overtakes SX4 to take the 4th place among the majors. Highest ever sales of vento in Feb 11.
3. Honda City continues to slide. The 2nd lowest sales in last 6 months. Don't think it has got to do with the recall since it was just 10 days before the month end. The real impact of the recall , if any, will be visible from Mar 11.

4. Seems to be the highest ever sales of SX4 with 1500units jump - must be because of the diesel inclusion. Will have a tough fight with Vento to start with.
5. Verna - on a declning path. Time for another new model?
6. Fiesta, Corolla, Logan , Cruze , Linea & Optra all steady and cruising in their respective postions.
7. There is ZERO impact of T-JET on Linea sales.
8. Corolla supremacy over Cruze continues.
9. Big decline for Aveo. Just before extinction and time for the new model to be introduced.
10. Early to comment on Etios, but surely will give sleepless nights for the 3rd and 4th positions. But expected a better no in Feb.
