Really thank you, Sidindica! Waiting eagerly rubbing my hands for this one. Still hope they would offer a black grille option in place of the chrome one, whichis IMO the only weak point in its styling. Last edited by Yeldo : 2nd January 2012 at 20:46.

As per the article in Economic Times today Hyundai will roll out the New Sonata this month.According to the article it will only be available in petrol version. Guys do you think the petrol motor will be de-tuned for India?

Hyundai have always been strong with their diesels and one wonders why the i45 only comes with a petrol option?!! In the UK the station wagon variant i40 comes with a 1.7crdi unit, its a very quiet and refined motor, gives a combined average of 18 kms to the litre in most reviews and is also very well priced. Hopefully Hyundai brings such and option to the Indian market soon!!

This car can truly be a game changer in the segment, I assume at some point they will add a diesel, but the spec sheet looks wonderful considering the 2.4GDI engine and comfort features like Ventilated seats, but one problem with ventilated seats is for it to work well the AC needs to be really good, In the passat they are just not so effective as I found the cars AC to be inadequate for even the passengers and there is not enough cool air, but on the german sedans like the S etc. It works flawlessly esp. In our summers, Also I don't think the engine will be detuned even if it is I expect slight de tuning only, if Hyundai can get its ride sorted out the car should start making waves in the segment, my only question is why did this car take so long to come? Let's also hope when they launch on the 7th they have enough inventories and the marketing push is a lot better, and of course let's hope the price is a lot aggressive and they don't try go too high, Regards,

| Senior - BHPian | From the specs screenshot attached, I don't think there is any detuning.. It says 201 bhp? Although a diesel engine is what is definitely required for this car to do any reasonable business.. Look at where the Accord's and Camry's sales have gone in spite of the Toyota/Honda brand names. |

The car looks good on paper, but Hyundai should know that petrol-only cars don't sell well in India in the 18-20L price range or above. The car might offer competition to Accord/Camry (both being petrol-only), but it probably won't dent the sales of the Superb or Passat. The other problem Hyundai has is one of brand value (in India), which is not strong enough in the luxury car market.

Sunroof is missing in the Indian version.I think they should have provided it as all its competitors have it. Do you think all black interiors would have looked better? It looks good in Cruze and Passat.
