Really nice to see you thinking about this decision
My few cents
1. These days urban used cars buyers are more interested in so called "Certified Cars" with warranty for next 10K kms or 1yr like that.
2. As you have already observed, the key to success is to have a kind of multi-brand workshop also associated with your used car showroom
3. the workshop offers you the benefit where you can offer the seller to qualify for 120/150 point checks which would fetch some money to run the business also
4. The used car buyer would not mind paying 10-20K extra if it is certified car with warranty. And since it is under warranty he would visit only your workshop to ensure that he gets the best service.
as already suggested by Devdath and GTO, go get exposed to the used car world for 3-6 months as a trainee. You will get the real knowledge to run the business.
