50L plus is a steep price, given that it competes with X1 & Q5. But what i like here is the exclusivity factor will remain. Just like the XF, you dont see too many of them on road because it is more expensive than the E and 5 series. Also if its assembled here it wont make a huge difference in the price just 3-4L. You saw it in the freeelander 2, when they started assembling it here it price fell by a little amount. Regarding the spare tires there is an option for Spare Wheel – Temporary steel 18" (155/85) which replaces Tyre Repair System. (I think it means that you wont get flat runs, not sure). According to the Land Rover site. The steel wheel will be smaller than the full sized one due to lack of space in the boot.

X1 and Q3. Not the Q5. And thats the problem. In 50L you are going to the Q5 territory. Although I agree its got killer looks.

Oops i meant X3 and Q5. And NO its not going to be near the Q3 and X1. WHy is everyone comparing it to those cars?! For god sake its a range rover! Not an entry level SUV from a foreign brand! Its meant to be compared to Q5 and X3 and not to Q3 and X1. I will sit above the freelander 2 be it in India or any other part of the world. Its not meant to be compared to the X1 and Q3!!!

I agree. Evoque is definitely a segment higher than the X1 & Q3. From any angle, be it looks, brand, features, capability, performance I think it is more in tune with what Q5 & X3 would have to offer.

Well I am sorry for comparing it with the X1 and Q3. But I know little about the Evoque and the ACI review had compared it to X1 and Q3 all along and hence my impressions that it was supposed to compete with them. May be its because of the size of the vehicle perhaps?

Yup. Size should be the main trigger. Also, the fact that Evoque is the 'baby' range rover aka X1

Baby X5 is the X3 right? is it called the X1? No there is an X1
Baby Q7 is the Q5 right? is it referred to as the competitor to the x1? Nope, because audis answer to the x1 is the Q3.

Baby Ranger Rover = Evoque. But is not the the segment of the x1 or the q3. Reason, its a range rover afterall!! Not even in india or the anypart of the world does the evoque compare between q3/x1. They are of different segments!!

Take a look at the Prices in pounds in UK (credit: julupani)
1 LR Freelander -22K to 36k
2 RR Evoque - 28k to 40k
3 Audi Q3 - 25k to 31k
4 Audi Q5 - 28k to 40k
5 BMW X1 - 25k to 33k
6 BMW X3 - 31k to 40k

It competes more with the X3 and Q5s rather than Q3s and X1s.

I think you got me wrong. I am also saying that it compares with the X3/Q5 segment.

I was just trying out the rational for ACIs possible comparison with the X1

ACI has its own reasons for comparing the Evoque with X1. Wait till their next issue they are pitting the Evoque against the Bolero as well, similar size again you see!! The standard of auto hacks in India seem to be going downhill with every issue.

2.0L is Petrol while 2.2L is Diesel power train so they operate on different specs. While the Power output of petrol is superior, it is really the torque figures which make the diesel swwweeeeeetttttt especially when you are dealing with SUV products.

How much does a Mitsubishi Montero and Toyota Prado cost in India ? Some 45-50 Lakhs OTR , compared to them 50 L for the Evoque is a bargain. Its loaded with tech. I'm really going to start saving cash for the Evoque. I just hope it costs around 50 and not more than that.

SVP from the C&B show very clearly said in the last episode that the car is priced a little high and one can get a better loaded Q5 and also the X3 for the same price or slightly lesser in the case of the X3. So I guess those are the real cars its going to compete with. ACI is at fault to compare it with the X1 and Q3 and its not fair to the millions who would be following them.

Now, that much money puts the Evoque price tag much higher than the competition, but the tremendous road presence of the Evoque is said to be its biggest USP apart from its off roading cred.
Great pricing for an awesome vehicle. I can forgive this car's reliability just for how it looks and its engineered.

I have heard that dealers have started taking bookings of the Evoque. Anyone who has visited the showroom can you tell me the waiting period of the Evoque? The reason I am asking is because they have already sold out their production capacity of a year
