Thanks. Those are nice videos. Please keep them coming.

This event set a milestone. For the first time an Indian build broke the 13 second barrier and went on to do 12.8. Congrats Madhusudhan Reddy.

Having spent the day at the drag strip all day, I noticed that things are hotting up and that the game has changed. The competition is much tougher, the timings are much closer within the classes. People are now getting serious about the sport which means that it will get better. IMHO from now onwards what will make the difference is the level of skill (in tuning and in driving) as well as dedication to the vehicle and sport.

Now onwards to the next round in Coimbatore. . . . .

I was there for 3-4 hours yesterday at the event 'cuz my friend was gonna be there and the plan was to shoot his GT-R - which had to be ditched for the 911.

Yes, the dedication/effort/enthu from all the participating drivers was top-notch, but sadly the event was as good as a unorganized race. The announcer was the worst part of the show, shouting out numbers for cars which were 2-3 turns away from the ones at the start line, no drama for each start, not even info about the cars being raced, not a single line about the times set and much worse. It would have been better if he was simply on a walkie-talkie talking to each participant to come forward.

Worse, there was only one timing board which could be viewed from only ONE angle. I have no clue why they couldn't have put one at the finish line - a big huge one. Overall, I think it would have been more fun drag racing in backstreet, because at least then the crowd would be fun and we wouldn't have to bear with an announcer continuously shouting out irrelevant info to the audience.

But here's the good part: the engines sounded sweeeet, the bikes totally roared past the finish line and though there was an almost complete lack of super-cars, the efforts to which the tuned cars were done was awesome to see. A lot of inspiration for sure.

Funny notes: Seeing 2 Beemer 3-series do the entire race in an almost cruise mode (silentllly), the X6 3.0d looked completely out of place, the Cayenne S being whooped by a super-modified Esteem, and the side-show entertainer on the Pulsar/RT-R doing wheelies!

Strictly for motor-heads only, there was no reason for a casual audience to be there unless you liked standing in the sun and watching cars whooosh past.

Here's a photo of the friend's 911.

Here are a few pics of the info sheets which were on display and that was a Cayenne Turbo not a Cayenne S. Also some pics and a video of the RTR and FZ guys doing their stunts!

Thanks, but am sure they don't expect the 300-500 number audience to line up and read these sheets like excited students reading marksheets at the end of an exam?

I was only talking about the announcer/MC/organisation and how this event could have been faaar more audience-friendly. I thought I heard Cayenne S, my bad.

with you on the 'audience-friendly' and 'stupid MC' part. And if not for the tuned cars, the event would have been a huge flop!

PS:Waiting for HQ pics from other members 'coz I saw quite a few people with DSLRs.

Infact so many people who could have raced with their cars did not even know about it. There was not enough publicity for the event to know. Me and my friend wanted to be at the event to race along with a CGT & a toureg, but we did not even know it already took place. :\

The event is part of the published FMSCI calender.

There were references to it here on TBHP esp in the Hyderabad meets forum where a few members planned to go together to the event.

This event (and the subsequent ones for this year) was also announced at the previous event held in Hyderabad on 24th July.

I am surprised that your friend did not notice it.

Motorsport events are not normally advertised in print/electronic media. Perhaps the cost is exorbitant esp. for an event like this one where entry for audience is free.

It might help if your friend got in touch with the regular tuners/racers in Hyderabad, they can keep him posted.

Cheers,

Cheers,
there are many in fact like us who did not know of this event hve only realized after checking out the pictures

And one more thing, not all supercar owners get together with racers/tuners...It's hardly only the 10% of the owners. But are definitely race enthusiasts, I can tell you that.
