Its an open fact that the Z4 since its launch is selling with the N54 engine which is a 3L turbo.

I'd complained before my run & also after the run to the marshals & organizers but they said they will be shifted to the H4 category when results are sorted, but they did'nt do it, kinda feel cheated

Technically ive won that category & still im @ 2nd place, seriously frustrating
First of all congrats for your win Karan
Regarding the second aspect, it is very unfortunate that the marshals allowed z4's in your category. My friends(spectators) told me about the mis-management. And listening to what happened with you, i can understand the level of mis-management!!
Hope things become better next year and you win again in your category

P.S. I can understand the disappointment of being called a runner up in a category after coming 1st. But we all know you won the category. So cheer up!!!

EDIT: Just read that you have emailed the organizers about what happened. Hope they take proper action and re-issue the results with you on the 1st position.

I seriously regret not coming for the event. A friend of mine who was in the crew of one of the teams had invited me and now I see what a big mistake I made by not coming.

Could have met many of you BHPians and I never knew my dream supercar the AMS GTR is here in India. Would have been a treat to watch it.

Next year my friend is planning to enter the run with his accord, I sincerely hope to accompany him.

This time I felt the spectators and participants were less compared to last time :(

Once again me & my awesome team (7th Gear Customs) tried to better things from last time so had to sort the timing system and rest of the things. @Tejas@perioimpl: buddy - promoting a Drift segment doesnt really get me any traction. If you can give me your email ID i would surely send you the confirmation. It was announced in the same way that Drift is cancelled and Super Cross was introduced.

Hey,

I've got nothing against you or your team. The fact that you guys are promoting motorsports is a great thing by itself.

What i voiced was what i interpreted reading this thread.

I don't want proof, i believe you that you had permission but you guys need to understand the spectators feelings and probably keep this in mind to get a better deal with sahara the next time around citing loss of face due to permission issues this year.

All the best for next year.

Dear Insaneroller,

Your team's efforts are well appreciated. It takes a lot of planning and passion to organize such an event. Hats off to you and your team for making such an event happen in India.

The main concern is that people come all the way from Mumbai or Pune or some other city hoping to see some great drag races and drifting. But when they get to know that drifting part has been cancelled, they would feel bad. We can understand it wasn't your team's mistake and it was the mistake on the other party's part.

Also participants would definitely feel bad if they find a car which shouldn't be in their category racing against them. Even if such a thing happens, that car's timing should be put in its respective category's chart.

Just a small suggestion (hope you don't mind) would be to guide the marshals and people from organizing committee to group the cars properly according to the category. This can be done by preparing a chart of engine displacement of various cars which wont be much difficult in today's time. It would avoid any sort of confusion

Cheers,
amansanc

If riders and drivers would not keep asking for practice runs the event would have moved faster. I did see some riders and car drivers fight with the organisers and marshals for practice runs.

The drift cars were to come and it was not a rumour. The owners of the airstrip did not permit it as their surface would get spoilt and its an expensive repair job.

No offence to you but i have just written what i saw and feel as a participant myself.
Not complaining just about the bikes, pal...I mentioned supercars (SCs) in the same breath as superbikes. It was a little saddening to see the GTR/R8/997/EVOs and the tuned babies getting baked in hot sun. And no, I'm no parsi...

Practice runs are fine, if you ask me. But just that the runs need to keep happening consistently. There were half hour to an hour gaps between segments, which slowed down the whole event, in my humble opinion.

And as for the drift segment, I saw GS do a fly by in his chopper on sunday- guess he must've had second thoughts on the participation then..no harm done, was just disappointed to not see his famed beasts, that's all. Didn't know that the venue had disalllowed the drift segment due to tarmac hurdles.

Kudos to insaneroller and team for doing this. I just jope that the spirits of the team is never dampened by these bumps. I support the massive efforts undertaken to organize this whole heartedly. And I intend to participate next year as well...hopefully in both the SBK & car segments, once my babies are ready..

Oh, and P.S - A very big shout out to the Rapid owner. Nicely done...!! Looking at the gap, I was afraid that the poor bimmer may not apply brakes at the end of the airstrip at all...

A great event and initiative, will be there for every single event, its an adrenaline junkies fix. My team won both the 2 stroke class and finished 1 and 2 in the Indian open with a RD350 built and run by Antony of Dam motors, and for the next event, intend to run myself, If I can lose some more weight. Thanks a ton Insaneroller, you guys are the best.

Here are some pictures I got from the start line and holding area. Couldn't get much as I was occupied with the marshal work but the event was really great and octane filled!! Had those turbo whistles echoing in my head for like two days!

Karan did actually win a prize. Also I don't understand how you got 5391cc, that is a multiplication factor of 1.8, as far as I'm aware the factor is 1.4 for both turbo and supercharged engines. With the 1.4 multiplication factor yours is 4193cc, and the H4 category is for cars above 4000cc.

What is possible is that there were no cars in Karans H2 category which automatically pushed him into the higher category - But that should have been H3, so I still don't understand how he was racing Z4s which should have been in the H4 category. I mean a 535i with the same engine as the Z4s was in the H4 category.
Management (promotors) have nothing to do with Classifications of a car, it comes under IARC.

If you see the multiplication factor, Turbo engine is 1.4 and supercharged is 1.8. That is how i come under the 539cc and the H4 category is 4200cc and above.

As per the timing sheet put on the website there was one z4 in Karans class and the 535 was in H4 with us.

The car went on carnet from bombay and had to return back, there was no question of keeping her in some other country. The owner does use the car as a daily driver as well

We guys come with the intention of participating and not winning. I for myself came for the sport and to see some good cars and bikes prepared enthusiastically by the competitors. Getting a prize came as a shocker to me and as i said i never even bothered to ask what my times were after my runs.

I agree, but how does it make sense whining about it at the wrong door. IARC is the right door. The protest should ideally have been made the time you took your prize at the venue, right now 24 hrs later its of no use.

Hope they do get back to you bro.

Anyway i have emailed them the appeal, im OK with whatever they decide.

Supercharged is 1.8 and turbo is 1.4 multiplication. i said if i wanted to keep the multiplication out and call the car NA, i would just say its 2995cc and be in H2 or H3. I am not complaining or appealing for anything, I'm a sportsman and i entered the right figures and categories and still managed a Third place with bigger CC and BHP monsters.

- they back tracked at the last moment - whereby you can ask for a compensation since i'm sure you must have had anything on the paper
- or the drift was just a marketing ploy (in that case, it's WRONG!)

You did not even announce it a few days before the drag that the drift would not happen. Why?

In either case, the paying spectator was cheated.

A doubt (i'm not expert on this subject): an airstrip capable of handling Boeings and Airbus type of heavy aircraft would get spoilt by a drift car doesn't cut ice with me.
I would expect more understanding from your side regarding this Tejas, especially since you have experienced it during events organised by you. Permissions taken and still a whole day of the event canceled. Participants from all over India felt cheated.

When we did a preview set up run on the airstrip a month ago, the authorities had informed us not to drive in the centre of the strip as it damages the surface. Do you think 3 cars and 4 bikes doing 4 runs can damage the surface, who can argue with the land owner. So do believe Insaneroller when he says last minute they refused to let the cars drift.

I was informed that there was some electrical issue during installation and the Real time software malfunctioned and hence it had to be used in Manual mode. Thats a minor thing and next year we shall have something new to look forward too.

But thats the fun part in events, owners have never been stopped to set up tents for their babies. I didn't see a single owner complaining about the cars standing in the sun, the only complain was of dust which no one could do anything about.

The marshals had announced three categories (H1,H2 and H3) at the same time to line up. The drivers and riders took their own time getting there, so i would not blame the marshals for the delays.

Last year also GS flew down in his chopper for the event, this year also the same. Last year also GS never brought any car and same this year. Whats new in this, he came just to see the event and not participate. Last year he drove the Audi Mumbai West (audi dealers) R8 spyder for a show run and then did do donuts with it, not his car so why care. This year he was not permitted for a show run as time would be wasted. I would reserve my comments about the so called "famed beasts".

Let's not get off topic and discuss about what happened previously. We all have had issues in the past regarding one or the other thing and there's no point dragging that up.

And i do understand since if you have read my subsequent reply to insaneroller, you would see that i told him that i trusted that he had taken permissions. All i said that if they knew a few days before that the drift was to be cancelled, they should have posted it.

As far as i remember, last year they had said no burn outs where there is paint on the strip. So if it was announced this year, i thought that they must have sorted it out with the airstrip guys. Apparently NOT!
