Default Raid-de-Himalaya winner arrested for theft ...

Guys, Yogesh Lakhani who stood 3rd in this years Raid-De-Himalaya Rally may have beaten the treacherous terrain, the extreme weather conditions , the sheer drops to come 3rd but on arriving back to his hometown Chandigarh yesterday he was arrested bu the Chandigarh Police for dealing in stolen bikes for the past few years .

He and his friends used to steal bikes and then put fake number plates etc at the workshop owned by him . The police stumbled onto him by mistake when they arrested one of his friends on suspicion and he blurted out the entire details ...

Maybe he shud have stayed up in the mountains with his trophy ....

Cheers

Hey, Is there any clause that states that a winner cud be stripped of his podium place if caught indulging in nefarious activities or does he get to take the trophy to jail ??

Cheers

I dont think so. What happens on the race track (or the hills ) is different from every day life.....

This chap's all over TV now & his champion status is being used to the hilt! He was just interviewed by Aaj Tak and very proudly stated that he had come 2nd in the Indian bikes category & 3rd overall.

Seems he stole high-end bikes including a Karizma and CBZ & then modified them for rallying purposes & in the process the bike was no longer recognisable.

And hats off to Aaj Tak the buggers are using the Dhoom soundtrack with footage from the Dakar being played in fast forward

Only if he cheated to win. Otherwise its the cop's problem. Also if he is driving for a team like MRF or JK, they can fire him.

Anybody remember Thomas Shekter, who as a F1 test driver for Jaguar. Got into trouble for soliciting a hooker.
Jag dumped him because it wasnt good for their image.

Like he was not happy with the fame he would've achieved with rally alone.
And the Tv guys are mad, whenever his news comes in the background is always dhoom machale...
And regarding the trophy, he can present it to somebody else who'll keep it safe until he's out from jail. Any takers?

.. or, going by the way te media would treat this - a loser yet the champion?
Think of it - he would get into the clinker for some time ( if the charges stick). But after that, who's betting there won't be a movie and a book on him? Dhoom 3, here we come!
