August 07 Track Day: Report & pics - pg 15 onwards

A few points to note

1. Please wear closed shoes while driving

2. Carry and wear helmets

3. Nothing should be loose in your car. As in no pens, papers, CDs, keys or any such things. Put them all inside seatback pockets or leave them in the paddocks.

4. Please check the condition of your brake pads before leaving for track. You may wear out half-worn pads, and you will have to drive back 350 km without brakes then.

5. Top up all fluids.

6. Slicks are not available here. Only in Chennai. Carry steel rims to use on track, you don't want to hit a kerb with your alloys.

7. Distance to the track from BLR is about 330 km. Expect your car to give HALF the mileage on track, as compared to on the highway.

Then there's the usual stuff like don't brake in corners, no overtaking except on the straights, don't push too hard, and other stuff that Mclaren will completely ignore.

There are a few decent fuel pumps on the way in. Best thing is to tank up in bangalore- drive to chennai - that should leave u with about 1/2 tank of fuel - use this on the track - being just 1/2 tank can reduce the weight. Hcne the lighter car.
@ jassi - if you and a friend are coming - please ensure both of you bring helmets to wear if you intend to drive on the track.

That's not the point. Keep this in the back of your mind, it will slow you down, and that's a good thing.

OK, just to clarify. We won't be having any Formula Swifts, FISSMEs etc, right ? Those who want to get on track would be doing in their own cars, right ?

on a serious note - i think ppl venturing into the track shud carry a small fire extinguisher just as a back up...maybe 2/3 can be shared by everyone....

From the thread- it looks like its going to be just us. with our own cars.

@ Narayan - I think this is a good idea- however - the car burning up is less of a worry than a person crashing. anywyas- we really need to ensure helmets, brakes and seatbelts are in perfect working order.

n_aditya - plz let me know the details on those slicks - whats the price, size, how old, etc asap. Is this in chennai or bangy? Are these real slicks or just used worn out tires and will they last.

I need rims 13" and i am looking for 185/60/13 track tires
