great interview with Naren
There's a great, and very detailed, interview with Naren in the latest issue of a magazine called autoXchange - avaliable in Delhi and neighbouring States. He talks about his Prodrive test as well as the state of motorsports in India.
This issue also has an article on the Raid.

Naren all set for dream debut in WRC!
Naren all set for dream debut
DH News Service, Bangalore:
For VR Naren Kumar, his long-standing dream of taking part in the World Rally Championship has come true...
Finally, the moment has arrived. For VR Naren Kumar, his long-standing dream of taking part in the World Rally Championship has come true. And this is indeed a historical moment for rallying in India as the six-time Indian National Rally Championship winner will be the first Indian rallyist to participate at the world level.
The Coimbatore-based driver will compete in the production class of the WRC, with the official entry name being Team Sidvin India. The deal has been finalised for the 2008 and 2009 season. The navigator for Naren will be announced later.
“I am very happy about this. Now with me driving for Team Sidvin in the PWRC, I am one step closer to realising my dream of being the first Indian to enter and hopefully win the WRC,” said Naren Kumar from Mumbai, where Team Sidvin India made the announcement at a press conference.
Naren will take part in six of the eight rounds of the PWRC, which will run concurrently with the main WRC events.
An entrant has to participate in a minimum of six rounds to be considered for the drivers’ championship. The Indian will take part in the Acropolis Rally (Greece), Rally of Turkey, Rally Finland, Rally of New Zealand, Rally Japan and Wales Rally (Great Britain) and will leave out the rounds in Sweden and Argentina. The Greek round will be the first Naren will take part in and will be in the last week of May. The six rounds Naren will compete in are all gravel tracks.
The car Naren will drive will be a 2008 model of the Subaru WRX, a two-litre hatchback that will be prepared and serviced by four-time WRC title winner Tommi Makinen’s company Tommi Makinen Racing Limited. The tyres used will be controlled ones from Pirelli.
Seven-time INRC champion N Leelakrishnan will be the technical programme manager of the team.
Some of the top names in the 28-car field for the 2008 season are 2005 and 2007 PWRC champion Toshihiro Arai (Japan), 2006 PWRC champion Nasser Al-Attiyah (Qatar), 2006 British national champion Mark Higgins, 2006 Japanese national champion Fumio Nutahara and others. Makinen said: “I am pleased that we will be working with Sidvin India in the PWRC. India represents a great opportunity for the future in terms of motorsport. I feel we are heading for a good relationship.”
Former International Automobile Federation (FIA) vice-president Nasir Hoosein said: “There will be great excitement in rallying now that there is an Indian entry in the PWRC.
“Naren will be watched keenly and this will be a new chapter in the history of Indian motorsport,” he added.
Mohan Nagarajan, CMD of Sidvin Core Technologies, who are sponsoring the team, said: “It is very exciting for all of us to have Naren drive for us and Makinen’s company prepare the cars. I am confident that we will produce good results.”
Naren had tested with the Subaru World Rally Team late in September last year but nothing came of it. He had an offer from Fiat-Abarth Works team for the European Rally Championship but that again did not work out. Naren drove in the Asia Pacific Rally Championship in 2007.
