well, we did have the London -Sydney marathon in 2004! and the 4-wheelers there were just too much, especially in mysore!

hey, does anyone know who won the 4-wheeler event at the King of Hills. someone told me that the blue baleno got it. There was also a maroon esteem who was the fastest at least till when i was watching. but then , he toppled after finishing (we saw the ambulance called out yet again, and a friend of mine saw it later)

It was a great event, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hats off to sujith and prosports for pulling this event off. Hope to see more of these events in the future.

The KING of HILLS went to Den Thimmaiah (mysore). If I am not wrong, the timing was 1.53.xx
The Maroon esteem clocked 2.08 in the run where it toppled after the flying finish. The participant is safe, even though the crash was very bad - the car toppled around 4-5 times before resting on its side.

Some really funny cornering styles there - were most of the bikes set up for a motocross rather than a tarmac event? I notice MANY of them are pretty tall.

I didn't take that into account becuase ordinary people like you and me didn't get to participate. I was there too, though, and it was great to watch the front-running Honda Integras. However, Naren Kumar in the zero car (MRF VTEC) was much faster than all of them!!

On a different note, I am hoping that this is only the beginning of a new era in grassroots-level hillclimb events. Kudos to the organizers for a well-planned event (I am assuming this cause nobody's bitching about lack of safety etc)

Reminds me of the time MA5K and me came flying down Chamundi Hill on our bikes

It may not have been as fast but it would have been equally enjoyable. That ride ranks as my BEST ride EVER !!

A few pics from Sunday:

Last car to take the start:

The Trophies:

Forgive the not-so-good quality pics. Mid point of the hill climb was a great spot to take pics with almost all the cars drifting along the long left hander, with lots of gravel on track. The moment i reached there, we heard about Sujay's car and we headed up to the finish line. Lost the golden opportunity for taking pics.

Incidentally, both Arjun Rao and Lohith Urs clocked the same time, 1:55.87.

It was bad, but not as bad as the Esteem. here are the pics.

That must be Arjun Rao. The fastest was the Blue Baleno of Den Thimmaiah.

Sadly, didn't know any of TBHPians. Would've been nice to meet them in person.

Great pictures MA5K, thanks.

Is there any way we can get the entire list of timings? It would be interesting to compate car times to bike times, as well as see the timing of that innova!

The list should be available. I don't have it with me, though. I'll check with friends and see if anyone made note of it.

Sunday's fastest time for 4-wheeler was 1:55.65 in a Baleno (Den Thimmaiah) and for 2-wheeler it was 1:48.xx on the 125cc Yamaha uber bike (T.K. Vishwanath).

Saturday's (Indian Open Class) fastest time for 2-wheeler was 1:51.58, clocked by Team Pacer Yamaha's T.K.Vishwanath.

That comes from most riders not having any track experience, a lot are familiar with motocross style riding. Pros like Vishwa used the right technique and consequently set the best times.
