The Ford dealer here in Bangalore with whom i dealt with had a dedicated TD car, in petrol and diesel for the Fiesta, an Ikon Flair , diesel Fusion and also an Endeavour for TD. The dealer was Cauvery Ford.

That apart, arent we going way off-topic here?

Having known a bit about Ford India's practices, here's what could possibly happen with the cars

1. Become part of the press fleet. The cars are crushed after a period of a year or two.
OR
2. Be internally handed over to some Ford employee as part of his perks/package.

So equating dealers with the company would be unfair. Besides they are always happy to write it off or show it as depreciation on their books. Their taxes fall off accordingly.

if a colour can change the looks of a car from the ordinary to something with some juice, its definitely the blue shade on the ford 1.6. Must say she looks mean and all set to burn rubber in that shade.

Sorry for seeing this thread so late but one question:

Which car stopped in least distance? ABS or Non-ABS? From the pictures it looks like that while ABS allowed for steering control the actual stopping was longer? Can you throw light on this?

I am aware of all pros and cons and theory of ABS etc. so that is not the answer I am seeking but just what you observed - if you can recall after this while 8-)

Exactly! My cousing has a Subaru Impreza in SFO, and this car does resemble that a lot.

As regards your other question, someone from Hyd recently bought a 1.6 S for 7.1 lacs OTR--It was a 2008 model.

All that the 1.6 S needs is a scooper at the front.

A friend of mine is looking for one and I accompanied him to Fortune Ford. They quoted 8.0x OTR but my friend wants to buy it for the Akshay Tritiya. After quite a bit of haggling with dealer manager involved, came down to 7.45.

My friend's budget is 7L extendable max to 7.3L. Can anyone help please?

This is a nice media gimmick by Ford for a few good words in the press.

Yes, the blue does aid in recalling the Impreza, fortunately I did get to see a few race tuned Imprezas in the states that were being tested on the hilly backroads of the small university town. They were so planted around the curves and the sweet roars of their turbos were truly orgasmic. In front of them the Fiesta would be a meek wannabe.
Having said that am glad that Ford does give the option of the 1.6ltr in India and people buy them.

The thread vnabhi points to says 7.1
My experience is that you can get a marginally better deal at Mody Ford, but that could be just my experience. Did you exhaust corporate discounts, insurance by yourself etc. etc. options to save a little more?
I will let you know if I find something interesting for you.
