Its actually 2:15. No Mods, completely stock bike. In its current state with just weight reduction (Group D spec), it will do 2:13's

Are there so many R15s in the city ? How come I have managed to see only one single bike till date on Chennai roads ?

Nice pics, John.

They were close to 120 bikes on track that weekend, out of which close to 80 were from Bangalore. Yamaha had organised for three Volvo buses to bring down riders from Bangalore and had also organised for the shipping of the bikes.

Nice pics, John.
I've noticed that too. A friend of mine who bought the bike first day first show keeps his R15 at home & commutes by a RX100. Says it is difficult to ride in the city. Something to do with the gearing, i guess.

Today's Metroplus supplement of "The Hindu" has an article on the R15. It also mentions the bike not being comfy for daily commute - but they mention the riding position as the reason IIRC.

It has been a long time since a bike has tempted me so much as to think of replacing my old CD100. I am not sure whether I will be able to overcome the temptation or succumb to it.

What was the OTR price your friend paid in Chennai for the R15 ?

Can't understand the riding position syndrome.. when i rode the R15 it felt as good/slightly better or as bad as the Apache RTR.

I have to agree. It's not too awkward, but then, I have only spent limited time on the R15 saddle.

SB, knowing you and assuming that you will ride mostly in the city, I would recommend the Unicorn. It is the perfect all rounder.
Or, if you are looking for something a little more radical, then the FZ16 should fit quite well.

It really depends on your height, weight, fitness and flexibility. You can always modify it by getting taller clipons.
