Too bad Ritesh was disqualified coz he was aiming for a sub 15 sec time. They should have atleast posted the 1/4 mile time for reference.

Thats an excellent time for an Indian car with an indian B15c2 block. but i think more than the NOS its combination of Driving with perfect launch + right gear shift + Traction with weight reduction on car which made this possible. My congratulations to the driver of the car.

P.s : how much NOS was injected for the run?

At the least you can expect an apology and a entry fee refund.
I fully agree. Instead of being cynical and pessimistic about organisers improving its best that a group of serious participants dedicated to the sport thrash these issues out with FMSCI. After all when as a participant you spend time effort and money preparing for the event the last thing on your mind should be doubts about the credibility of the organisers.

Keeping mum and not raising these issues formally with FMSCI would only detract from the strength of your arguements as if they do hold water you will see justice done to those who feel compromised

Take it up guys, as you will help improve the sport. Its important more cities join the bandwagon and who better than participants to iron out issues and improve the sport.

BTW I noticed there's a formal mechanism as detailed in the supplemental regulations on raising issues/appeals to FMSCI.

Leaving aside the controversies, I think this event will go a lot in promoting motor sports in Hyderabad. Looking at the fact that there are hardly any proper tuning shops in Hyderabad the local lads have shown that the spirit is still there.

Of course there is still a long way to go. But what is heartening is the overwhelming response from the crowd even though there was hardly any promotion through any of the newspapers or television. If it was not for DKG I doubt anyone in T-BHP would have even heard of the event in time!

Have you guys noticed some thing strange about the provisional results. The results of a race that ran 2:30pm being published at 5:00pm where as all the other results were published within 20 - 25 minutes of the category being completed. I am talking about the 801 - 1100cc modified category.

Ofcourse, the engine is just one part of the success. Madhu is a damn good driver and he's got a close ratio gearbox to aid the acceleration.

I have no idea how much NOS was used but think about this, from 15.7secs (without NOS) he went down to 13.6secs (with NOS).

Therotically speaking, in the NA run, he would have hit around 143kmph in 15.7secs while in the NOS run, he would have done 165kmph in just 13.6secs (143kmph would have come in around 9-10secs).

In contrast a bone stock vtec does 140 in 21 secs and 160 in 33 secs. LOL

Woah!! When you put it that way, it's astonishing what that car is capable of. 0-100 must have been in about 5 seconds then?

It was done wonderfully by the Supra. Stationary and the rear wheels moving like crazy with smoke all over. Wow, what a sight. Not to mention the exhaust note, which was mind boggling.
First off, but putting a Ferrari in a 1/4 mile run and complaining about it is just plain dumb. That car shines at the track; its not a muscle car.
For the record, it makes 483HP@8500RPM and 343ft@5250RPM.
Forget how fast it is - JUST LISTEN TO IT!!!

The Supra on the other hand does ONLY one thing well, and that's to go fast in a straight line. This particular supra appears to be lightly modded and my guess would be that its putting about 400hp to the wheels or so. The car was probably running street tires right?

Why didnt the GT-R run? Ohhh thats right - the transmission will break
(Sorry had to do it - Nissan voids warranty if VDC is turned off "too often". This is necessary to turn on launch control. 2010+ models will not have launch control.)

* I'm a little surprised that this event didn't take place in an actual drag strip. Road prep is extremely important for drag racing. Whats the point of a drag race without vital stats like R/T, 60 foot, 1/8, 1320, and ET?!

* The recorded reaction times shown are extremely high and cannot be correct in my opinion.

I'm glad everyone had fun. Ultimately this is what its all about - fun!

This is what ~900-1000hp looks like btw:

Definately, coz a few months ago, in street spec and on a dirty surface, his car did 0-100 in 6.3 secs on a VBOX. So in drag spec you can expect it to be under 6 secs easy.

Whats even wierd is that Madhu's FWD OHC VTEC was only 0.8 secs slower than Shabbir's RWD (whatever bhp) Supra.

Shabbir missed a couple of gears, where as Madhu had a perfect run.

Hehe nice one! Now thats the potential of modern engines if optimized correctly/sensibly. I would never believe that my car which is NA could be capable of clocking under 15sec times in a quat mile however today I feel that 14.5secs is just around the corner, hee!

Hey, Shabbir had difficulty shifting gears and that couldve slowed him down by a few fractions comfortably, gotta take that in consideration too!

Getting back to the original topic, it always amazes me these Honda engines, they never seem to lose steam at all...huh, crazy mills!!!

I've always maintained that when it comes to engine tech no one can match Honda

You guys should try to get hold of the old CRX's (the chopped back one). That car standard was a rocket. Modded it would obliterate competition, including the City's you guys use. I think Bombay has a couple of those cars still around. If I remember the specs correctly it was a DOHC 1.6. We used to call the car the flying coffin as many a soul went up racing that manic creature

Bone stock vtec does 0-100 in 9.XX seconds (according to some mags or 10.xx maybe); Does it takes 11 additional seconds for the vtec to do an extra 40 kmph?? and 12 more to do 140-160? Are you sure..

Shabbir missed a couple of gears during his run in another class in which the M3 won where he did a 14+ sec run. This was his fastest time ( 12.8XX Secs ) and madhu's run time is 13.6... Thats really good.
