Arre in FCCCI, we just wander around looking for more fiats, or in my case, stop at the nearest food shop to get something to eat.

This is not like this! Oh and in FCCCI, we have to listen to long boring lectures, and you have Kiran to Pester!!

the event was fab. the participants liked the route & newcomers enjoyed the experience.
from a participant's point of view, you can ask proton (samarth).

sure, the only mistake from our part was:
the cars were supposed to be flagged off by 9 am, but eventually they were flagged off by 9.30 am. the delay was because BMC had closed a road for repair work & we had to make changes in all the maps along with the odo readings.
the event started by 9.30 as i said and all the cars reported back by 1.30 pm. two cars dint turn up on the finish line!!!
the best part was one participant forgot his map at a checkpoint & when he realized that, he left home!
a maruti swift had a puncture & hence was the last car to reach the finish line.
almost all the cars missed a checkpoint or two.

Hey guys hats off to rajeev for pulling this off! the route was well planned and odo readings very accurate.I thought it would have taken him atleast 10 days to plan out the route but was suprised to know that it was all done within 3 days.17 cars turned up for the event.Even though it was on sunday traffic was no less than a weekday. As rippergeo mentioned earlier its more about keeping a cool head than driving fast.Hope more rallys are organised like this.Overall

@raj are the results out?

How did that happen? Was the route given out as written directions or maps?
And were the written directions straightforward, or did they need deciphering/were they cryptic like in treasure hunts?
Would be nice to see the points each car scored, and where most people got penalties.

the cars missed a checkpoint just because THEY DINT SEE THE CHECKPOINT. probable reason could be they were not cautious or they were overspeeding.
the route was given in the form of directions, that is every turn along with odo readings was shown in form of a table. i have attached a pic.

most cars got penalties because of missing checkpoints. the cars that came the top 3 DID NOT miss any checkpoint, that explains it all.

This would have been so much fun! too bad the event was halfway across the country.A lot of effort must have gone in into making the charts.
Wish we could do something like this in cochin.

how much of a hassle was it getting permission from the authorities? What about accident liability and stuff? I'm beginning to dream of a TBHP TSD event in cochin.

as samarth said, the rally was done in 3 days, but that is only the final event preparations. the route was decided long back. it took us 3 rounds of the entire route in my car & 2 more rounds in a bike to eliminate every minor error in directions & odo readings. thereafter, the map was made in 2 days.

permission from the RTO took 3.5 weeks and 4 visits! but i would still say they were very co-operative. about accident liability, we made every participant sign an 'indemnity form' along with the entry form.
