Cool Autocross/INRC/Kart race coming up in Bangalore!!

I just received an invitation from a company called Zeroin Management for a Corporate Go-cart championship at Bangalore.

Each team should have 5 people and have to pay Rs.7500 for enter. A company can send any number of teams. Only corporate teams are allowed. Each team gets 30 free rides of 3 laps each for practice time.

Is this a well known competition, is anybody participating through your company?

Default Bangy boys- Motorsport coming your way, time to check out your skill!

Bangalore guys!! This is the time for you to check out what and how much you can handle!!
Basic format is given below.

FASTLANE 2005

We take this opportunity to announce the countryís largest ever inter Ė corporate sporting challenge that is to be held in Bangalore. Go-Karting as you know, is the first step towards Formula car racing, also called the F1 challenge, where leading teams of the world pit against each other to take home the honours. The sport demands enormous mental strength, physical endurance, bullet-quick reflexes, and excellent hand-eye coordination. Besides, itís a sport thatís loads of fun and provides mega thrills to all including kids, women and grown-ups.

This challenge comes as a great opportunity for Corporates to take part as a team and parade their sporting skills to their peers in the industry. Itís also a great way to build team spirit and camaderie amongst employees. The challenge is ideal for project teams who have worked hard on an assignment and ripe for reward. A large number of leading companies from Bangalore have enthusiastically responded to be part of this mega event. We hope your company too will take part and compete with others to corner the glory.

Each team will have five members. And there is no limit to the number of teams any one company can enter. Each team will be issued 30 free ride coupons 3 laps each that can be redeemed at any time of their convenience at the racetrack. These free ride coupons allows the team to check their timings, evaluate performance, formulate a strategy and make the necessary adjustments needed for the team.

We also encourage other employees of the company to attend the various qualifying races to cheer the teams and boost their morale. On the grand finale day all participants will be invited to a mega party where they can let their hair down and party.

The participation fee per team is pegged at Rs. 7500/- (Rupees Seven Thousand Five Hundred Only). Like mentioned before, there is no limit to the number of teams a company can enter. The challenge is structured as heats, quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals on the last day.

The schedule of the various races will be intimated to you well in advance once you complete the necessary formalities like filling participation forms etc.

Once again we appeal for your participation, be part this challenge and encourage sport within your organization.

Just a word of caution: Check to see whether the event runs with the necassary permit from the MAI. This matters to people looking to participate in other events. Running with a permit also ensures that the rights of the competitor are upheld. A good way to see if an event is authorised would be to take a look at the MAI calendar on www.mai.co.in

Strange, i would have thought a lot more people would be interested in the dirt track meet. What's going on guys?

Or are people only interested in racing in a straight line nowadays?

.rs., the event is running in Bangalore this weekend. It is a small club event. No office in Mumbai!

You can call Ravindra from the VMSA on 9886220787 for more info on the event.

Rtech, I'm VERY interested. Just wanted to ask a few things:

1. Are gloves ABSOLUTELY necessary?

2. MAI site says the clubsport licence can be submitted on the spot. In your experience, will this work?

3. What would race insurance for a Baleno cost? Also, is it necessary to get it from the original insurer?

Thanks.

I would usually say yes. Just depends on their level of strictness.

Yes, log onto the MAI site, download the Clubsport licence form, fill it out and hand it over to the organiser along with Rs.100. You will be allowed to enter the event. The licence will then be sent to you at a later date.

Make sure you ask for RALLY insurance and not race insurance, as the prices are different! Rally cover is cheap - Rs.50/75 per day. Race cover is a whole different ball game, so don't put that idea into the insurers head!

Yes, you can only get the cover from your original insurer with whom you already have the policy.

Which one is more expensive? I would think rallying is more accident prone because of the unfamiliar terrain and loose surfaces. Circuit racing is pretty safe as long as you dont get agressive in passing or blocking.

In insurance speak, "Rally" means a slow speed navigational event within the city. A Family TSD event. Hence the risk is low. They do not think of WRC style rallies!!
