Wow ! This is so cool . Lets hope some great drivers come out of this initiative and graduate to DTM ,WTCC and other formulas .
They could later add street races in some of the metros .
Thanks for the great report and pictures Technocrat .

Looks like the Madrasis ruled the roost as I expected.
I'm not surprised with Sailesh. He's Radha Selvaraj's teammate here and trained under him.
Sailesh found almost half a second between the 2 races.

Nitrous, take a look at the 3rd place guy in this pic. Was he driving one of the mad race esteems during the P&P event at the Chennai track? He looks familiar. His name is Mohd Fahad Kutty according to the report.

Default Great Pics

Hey Technocrat, brilliant pics. Thanks for sharing these. Videos would have been an icing on the cake though! By the way, how fast were these cars from 0 kmph ? Also will this be the very same engine [read as stock] that may come to India? or the rally cars had some tweaked versions of this engine? Any ideas on these?

Thumbs up Kudos to VW India for this superb initiative.

I am sure it will help grow interest and awareness of Motorsport here in our country.

I would just love to be in contention to be a participant and that leads to one small grudge though. All this is happening at least 15 years too late for me.

Anyways, I am really glad that things are rolling now.

Love the way the jacked Polo looks in the Pit with the race suspension keeping the wheels close to the lowered body.

Hey nice report there.

Just curious to know , are these drivers having track history ?

200 would be tyre width in mm, 605 would mean overall diameter of tyre in mm & 17 is diameter of alloy wheel in inches.
Hope I am correct in interpretation of race tyre specification, tyre gurus correct me if I am wrong.

Great Pics and report Techo. Bringing a street race to Pune is a step in the right direction. After waiting forever, finally the mountain has come to Mohammed.

This car spun on a corner, turned 180 degrees. @ technocrat: Is that you in center of frame with camera?

Taxi rides during lunch

Report and PICS : VW Polo Cup! First race at Pune-img_7464taxiride.jpg

OT: Apologies for not having full car in frame in many photos. I had left my 18-55 lens at home hoping that I would be away from race track & would need 55-250 zoom lens alone. I was proved wrong by crowds & had to shoot close to barriers. 18-55 kit lens was badly missed. Waiting for Kata bag to arrive in July so that I can carry all lenses safely.
