Best car to train in.
High CG, puny tyres. Very unforgiving. Very scary.
Only the smoothest inputs will keep it from rolling over.

Srikanth, replace it with a swift whenever you plan to.

Mine is shod with the A drives, so the tyres are not that bad, nevertheless no doubts about possibly the most ill suited car to the track. The car has served me faithfully so far so I hope the replacement is still some time away.

Few high-res pics are here, if anyone interested Trackday 12.07.2010 - a set on Flickr
thanks Rahul for timing me , infact that was the only timed lap i did. i didnt push the car at all(first time on track as well!) , its done just 5000kms on the odo and this being new tyres i didnt want my tyres to end up like your tyres from the last track day! .
One thing with this tyre was that it was almost like driving a go-kart ,rear kept sliding often ( over-steer perhaps?) with very little grip! But boy the Punto has such good feedback from the steering that i never lost total control .
With better tyres and a little more experience(i have to push more!) from me i guess the Punto could do the high 2:20s.Not bad for a car that does 100 in 17 seconds ! .Btw the crap first 2 gears of the Punto didn't matter as it was 3rd and 4th all day! I cant wait for another track day !
Ps: Any one got a picture of the punto in action?

Cool When is the next one ?

What a day...!
It was fun, but last time was more fun. I miss my Zen.

I think I did around 120 Kms that is around 32 Laps. New Acclere is holding up good. Brakes sadly did't. 2 hot laps and I'm literally brake less.

Manek would't believe me at first then he drove and was like
Sadly there is no way to replicate the "track conditions" and for normal use brakes are excellent. I'm however inclined to get to the bottom of this. More on that later.

After driving my Zen on track the Vtec feels like a toy. But hey the latter carries more speed . Power steering kinda takes out the "fun".

Highlights

+ Riding shotgun with Manek
+ Driving with Manek in the passanger seat
+ Seeing Manek's face when my car's brake faded away.
+ Saw of lot of new and "old" folks.
+ It was raining Vtec's and OHC's Game On...!
+ Getting a chance to pass couple of OHC's, Vtec's and Mondeo (Diesel) in a single lap (This was before the brake issue became "big" issue)

DIY Video thing was a disaster. The cam was getting switched off as the whole thing was vibrating like mad. It was a last minute idea so...

Pic from my cam. Nope I only took a few pics and the cam was (I forgot your handle bro). Thanks a bunch for taking the pics.

The Punto is excellent in feedback and Would love to take the 1.4 petrol on track. It would sure do sub 2.20 i guess!!

Had fun yesterday, was my first time on track. Came late to the track cos one of the city had crank problem, then my car had tyre issues. By the time I actually drove on the track it was already 4. Drove around 6 laps, spun out once.

Had the time of my life !

Wow! I am a big fan of the Mondeo. I like it a lot. Don't have some videos like the last time. You Southies seem to have all the fun when it comes to driving!
Also, I saw a Figo there too, how did it fare?
