This was my first time and I had lot more fun than anticipated. Truly well organized and executed. Met many bhpians whom I knew only by the profile pics. This was also a true eye-opener for me in terms of the visually impaired people. We really take our gifts like eyes and speech for granted.

The Nano, raring to go in the wee hours of the morning.

We reached early so took a walk on the seaface. I saw a guy doing crunches on 'Munni badnaam hui' and later this.

These guys were curiously watching the flag-off.
Did anybody catch a photograph of the Red Vintage car honking 'Hakooooyaaahhh'?

Me with My Navigator and his son after the race. Mr. Shahaji was so devoted to the race, that he didn't even touch the snack box or consumed a drop of water till we were done. Thank you Mr Shahaji. You were zimbly great.

My co-navigator Mr. Ravi Chandra. The sheets that can be seen are the decoded instructions from the braille sheets. He had a tough job getting the instructions down from Mr. Shahaji and keeping me on track (Acting the way youtube buffers the videos ). Thanks Dude.

I thought this was the reason we did not get a standing. Never knew that there was a checkpoint at Bandstand till this morning.

Overall, great experience. Many Thanks to NAB, RTI and all the people involved in this. I am really looking forward for the next year's event.

Looking at the result it seems i missesd 3 checkpoints. I was under the impression that i only missed the Bandstand one (which by the way i got to know only after reading some of the posts in this thread )

So we have 2 BHPians in top 10 or is the count more?

If two consecutive boxes are empty, it means you have missed one checkpoint. In your case, you seem to have missed checkpoints 4 and 5. I missed checkpoints 2 and 5.

I think Mansi is confusing Byram for Behram Dhabar!

My safety-net calculation of 8am flag-off + 1 minute for every car = 8:43 flag-off for me, was a bit flawed...

I showed up at 8:32 while car #41 was being flagged of - the organizers helped me slap on the stickers in super-fast pit stop style. They even put a random navigator in my car. But i didn't want to leave my original nav behind, so was told to start later.

If i had called my nav Allaudin to the NAB gate a little in advance, it would have been a nice Le Mans style start for us!

Aaah! Was wondering why two fields were blank.
Thanks for uploading those results.

@cyrus - i think maybe its time you hand over your crown?

Car #24 (not sure if its a TBHPian) = 535 negative points!!

PS - This was in TIME OUT magazine before the event. Not sure how many people saw it. Thats TBHPian michael schume in the pic from last year.

Hey thanks GTO

I recollect one point in time where your black Merc led the convoy followed by a black Ikon then a black I20 and then my black alto all thru chowpatty. It was great fun

@Rehaan - Allaudin should have been at the NAB gate at 7.30 AM. I had picked him and my navigator from Chembur and reached NAB on time. I had no choice but to be early with car number 12.

@amit,

Oh ofcourse he was at NAB. What i meant was that he was waiting for me inside (not at the gate) as i hadn't mentioned anything about a Le Mans start to him.

He did mention to me that he came with Arun (didn't realise that Arun was your navigator till i saw the pics). He also mentioned that Arun's car has a seatbelt warning buzzer while mine doesnt.

I hope all the participants AND navigators wore their seatbelts!

Hats off to car # 24. 340 penalty points in one stage! God almighty! Looks like he either made a determined effort to find checkpoint #5, which many of us missed or drove like a complete maniac.
Car #5 is another one. Completed just TC6 - TC7 in the entire rally.

Great Reporting and pics guys. Something with me is Jinxed with this event. I remember, having participated on at least two occasions earlier but after joining Team Bhp have not been able to make it. Something or the other comes up.

This time it was a medical emergency involving a friend and his "Special'' child for which i had to travel out of town a day before the rally. Speaking of Special, i wonder why the organizers have to call it the "Blind Man" Rally. Firstly i think it is insensitive and secondly its nor restricted to Men.

I would like to suggest that hence forth this event be called the "Visually Challenged/Impaired Persons" Rally. I think we have a certain amount of standing and with the participation numbers from our forum increasing, they would and should consider this change.

This was for a good cause and i regret not being there. Next time hopefully.

I agree Gogi, and the organizers themselves brought this up during the presentation. There is a lot of participation from Visually Challenged ladies as well. Hopefully the name is changed next year.

Great photos and a good rally.

I am also particularly happy that with these photos, I can now finally associate the TBHP Id with a face. Makes reading more meaningful for me.
