Just read the thread. Congratulations for sharing the experience.

One thing I could not understand - if there was mob and police intervention was needed why the organizers did not cancel that section? This is standard in any TSD event if the rally is stopped due to outside interventions. You should compare your results up to that location and then look at the standings to see how ell you were doing vis others.

Another method of preventing time loss to TSD competitors is to position a marshal at any such point to do dead time control.

Sudev Sir: Firstly, thank you for taking time to read my thread. I hope you will continue following this thread and give your inputs (which is invaluable).

Clarification:
Sir, you are one of the most respected person in the Indian Motor Sports circuit and your knowledge on TSD procedure & protocol cannot be doubted. UNFORTUNATELY, I cannot say the same thing about the marshals who intercepted "us" (convoy of 7 to 8 vehicles who had been affected till before the police intervention).

Since my car was the first to be stopped by the mob, I had mad the first phone call (since mobile phones were allowed) to the COC. He assured us that we would be we would be given a restart. However, 22kms down the road, when we finally intercepted by a group of marshals (read inexperienced & untrained) they instructed us to reach the next TC where a restart would be given! <Great, we thought! This meant we were back in the rally!> We reach the next TC and a BOMB is dropped on us, Marshals there are completely unaware of the adversities that we had to face and said that there was nothing that they could do and that TC WOULD BE INCLUDED AS APART OF THE TABULATION! <There goes the Rally flying out the other window> We decided to make up for lost time and continue and finish the Rally! We did! On arrival we gave a gave in our appeal! But our appeal was dismissed on baseless grounds <Apparently, we were supposed to WAIT at the place where we were first stopped and a team of Marshals were supposed to come there and give us a restart> of the 7 vehicles in our convoy 5 of us were not given a restart!

Basically, we were fighting for a lost cause and none of the officials willing to do anything about the situation that had cropped up primarily due to their negligence!

It's a shame that such incidents are not rectified by the organsers, it would have been as simple as negating the section between the the 2 TCs either side of the crosssing.. pity

I hope the biker behind was given medical attention ?

@Manoj Biswas: Well it's just a part of the game and as a novice driver, you don't really have much say in the rally circuit!

The Biker was given medical attention but only at the "finish control" @ Shantiniketan (about 60kms away)

Default Racing Suit

Racing Suit/Overall
I decided to invest in a Racing Suit, My options were:
1) Locally Made Tara Lohia
2) OMP
3) Sparco
I was primarily interested in one manufactured by OMP, called FIRST 2. The locally made suit is available for around 8k. However, it is not FIA approved. The OMP & Sparco obviously hare homologated, but REALLY EXPENSIVE. (Lets just say all the saving I had done for iPhone 4S was re-allocated) I was more convinced as every, that I was BORN to Rally!

So last night((19/3/2012) I received a package from OMP.
Oh did I mention, Taylor-made in Italy to my specification.

Well, even senior drivers dont have much say either . One tends to believe that the organisers have the final say, which is also not true.

Every event has a team of Stewards appointed by the FMSCI, such abberations need to be brought to their notice and in case still not addressed, there is a process to lodge a formal protest with the Stewards. It is unfortunate that many rallies and events have been decided on paper instead of the track, but sometimes lack of understanding of the general prescriptions on behalf of the organisers forces one to go this route.

As an organiser, protests can be a pain...but as a competitor, it is sometimes the only way forward to rectify such glaring discrepencies

Absolutely agree with you. The participants are not expected to wait anywhere and they did the right thing in proceeding on the route as soon as things cleared up.

Unless ofcourse there were marshal present and instructed otherwise. It is normal to ask for instructions in writing as far as possible.

Anyways as Manoj says read the regulations. Your first point of contact should be CRO and not COC.
