Thumbs down

I first thought it was a bad joke but later read the report on Autosport online and realised it was true. His two teammates did a commendable job though and brought the car home in seventh- an incredible feat indeed. Seriously bad luck for Narain, he would have added another first to his career.

I know this is a public forum and anyone can just talk anything.
But, there is yet to be ONE SINGLE Indian to even match his achievements, let alone beat it.
You have no idea what it takes to be born in this country and get into racing and reach the pinnacle of motorsports.
Give the devil his due!

Guys I'm so sorry I forgot to post the link. So sorry about it.
autosport.com - Le Mans News: Injured Karthikeyan hopes to race

P.S. Please don't get offended about the tone of the thread. I'm sure most (if not all) of us quite proud that he was the first Indian in F1 but its a lol moment after all so enjoy it. Thankfully his injury isn't serious so he should be racing again.

I do agree with you. You also need tp be born into a family that is rolling in cash.

The thing with Narain is this: He has not done well in F1. And a lot of Indians feel let down.

I agree that it is not easy to just go out there and perform and beat your team mate, but that is the general feeling among many Indians.

It's MONEY! Nothing else!
BTW, I never thought that Karthikeyan was a good driver! (at least in F1.)

If anyone follows A1GP, they would know Narain is the guy that keeps us in the top 10 most of the time and has won a couple of races including the final 2008 race in Britain.
He's recently scored 2nd in one of the sprint races.
He's consistent and places just below the best teams like Switzerland, Nederlands,Ireland, etc.
We as a country(in A1GP) beat Pakistan, Italy, China and the deciding factor has been Narain.
Currently, we don't have a driver to replace him even in this series.

There's plenty of money in the middle east. Where are they in A1? in F1?
Yeah, a participant in WRC,if you insist.
China's coming up as an economic superpower. But, where do they stand?
We sent them packing to Timbucktoo.

Quoting Trooper from this thread: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/1107297-post38.html (Karthikeyan not interested in FI: A case of sour grapes?)

Narain did spend a fortune of his wealth before he even got to smell F1 fumes. It's just that he doesnt make a soap opera out of it by giving out the story everywhere. Sponsors and ads came after many years.

There are hundreds of other Indians, who spend their own resources (probably all of them) to enter competitive racing as privateers - rallying, the Raid, track racing, etc. And they get very minimal coverage from the media and ZERO sponsorships. They do it anyway.

Maybe they should all shy away from it unless they KNOW they are going to win the race. Otherwise, they way judgements are being passed around here, they might all be thrown to the lions.

Boss he was born with a silver spoon. People who you see in lime light like armaan, karun, akhil, etc are either somehow got their chance because of their parent's association with the sport or with money.

In india they are many people like me who killed their dreams because they didn't have the "prerequisites" to enter the sport. If everyone had equal opportunities or shall i say access to better motor racing infrastructure , you never know, someone might have even surpassed karthikeyan by now.
