Default BMW X4 production confirmed!

After the X6 and X1, BMW preparing to kick-start yet another niche segment with the X4 crossover. The production plans have been slated for 2014.
Quote:
In an interview with Auto Motor und Sport, BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer confirmed plans to build an X4 crossover.
The executive declined to give additional information, but the magazine says the model will measure approximately 4.65 meters (15.25 feet) long and share engines with the X3.
There's no word on when the vehicle will be launched, but previous reports have indicated it could hit the market in 2014.

A very early stage artistic rendering which I believe, looks nothing like the real deal. Other than maybe some character lines.

That rendering looks more like the X6! I wonder what their strategy is with introduction of X4.

Looks like a smaller X6 with some LR Evoque lines. BMW probably want a car that takes on the LR Evoque. LR has really made one hell of a beaut.

It does indeed look like an Evoque rival in the making. I just hope they make it more practical than the X6 in terms of rear space.

BMW seems to be hell bent on mixing and matching all design forms and all its models just to create something "different"! Their models no longer have an individuality or a sense of difference from each other, all in the name of "family look"! If the front matches one type of beemer, the rear matches another! Whats funny is it seems to be inspiring others like Audis and mercs too! Each one is bringing up a model just similiar to the other.
Now we have the Q3 coming up against the X1 and a similiar one from merc - expected. We already have the CLS, A7 and 5-series GT. X3 and Q5.. phew!!!!

This indeed looks so similar to the 5GT. Or is it actually the 5GT?

Looks like an X6 crashed into the rear of an X3.

Hope it is a rendering.

The artistic rendering made me thought it would look something like the sexy Evoque. But, as per the new picture by karan, what were they thinking of, while designing it? The X6 looks very well with the coupe line. But, on this picture/rendering, it looks seriously odd. As Scorcher said, a X3 rear-ended by a X6. lets just hope they wont mess it up.

Nope , this isnt the 5 GT , IMO the 5 GT was one of the most ugliest BM, & this is far from it

I think the concept of having an X4 in the line up is to make it more accessible for the masses. ( Same concept of X3 and X5 )

Also as long as it can fit 5 passengers in India it will sell

The X4 SAV will be built at BMWs Spartanburg plant in the US.

Confirmed to hit the market by 2014.

BMWs CEO also said that " X4 will be sportier than the X3 and will complement the X3, without cannibalizing sales, as the X6 has complemented sales of the X5. "With the X6 we attract a completely different buyer from the X5 and we expect the same happening for the X4 versus the X3 "

Is it just me or does it appear more like a compact saloon than a crossover like the X6?. The rear end isn't as high up neither the ride height as the X6. I've attached the image where it appeared so to me.
If it is the case, Perhaps it's intended to be like that as its the 'baby' X6?

It does indeed look like a sporty saloon from that angle but in reality the X4 concept is quite large though smaller than the X6 but adding to the practicality.

Here's a dimension comparo between;

X4 Concept vs X3;
