| Hyundai interest in Formula 1 growing Oct.18 (GMM) Korean carmaker Hyundai could become interested in Formula 1 in the coming years. That is the view of a spokesman for the Korean grand prix, following the country’s second formula one race last weekend. The inaugural 2010 event was a shambles and circuit officials recently revealed financial concerns about the future of the event. Late on Sunday, the Yeongam organisers revealed a race day crowd of 84,174, causing Red Bull’s official Twitter to wittily observe: “That must include mosquitos. And fish. And those were counted twice.” A report by the Associated Press claims a Korean driver or team might help in the future, powered by the involvement of a local carmaker like Hyundai or Kia. “Hyundai has been enthusiastic about the idea around the middle management levels, but the CEO has yet to be convinced,” said Korean grand prix spokesman Shin Young. “In the future though, I think it will happen. I hope so.” Source : Hyundai interest in Formula 1 growing | YallaF1.com What about that? ![]() But if it ever happens that will be a good news for all Hyundai road cars. A better steering and road handling. As in the same line - with the inauguration of Indian F1 track, will TATA too will think about a constructor team in F1 say "TATA F1". Guys, like to hear your observations and thoughts. Cheers! Vinu |

| Hyundai cant make proper handling road cars. How on earth will they build a F1 car with razor sharp handling.?? Their F1 cars will be like Boats, wallowing around the whichever circuit they run.On a lightnote, their cars will have upforce rather than downforce,so that they can take off the high speeds and fly around the circuit ![]() |

| Hyundai F1, that would be funny. They might get into it for other reasons, National Pride etc.. Hyundai have good road handling cars, Genesis Coupe is supposed to be very good, the new Sonata 2L turbo is also getting good reviews for handling. Obviously, they are not Porsche or Lotus nor are they competing with them. If Tata's want to get in it would be through Jaguar. Any ways, if I am not wrong they already race in Le Mans. F1 is not necessarily the only ways to develop tech. VW/Audi are not even interested in F1. F1 is a costly marketing tool for most of the manufacturers. No wonder Honda, Toyota and BMW quit. Only the real racing team are actually fully committed to it. Ferrari, McLaren, Williams. Not sure how long Red Bull might be around. |
