it was planned long long time back, but no more...this was done when they were using the SL platform to make the car..but they decided against it, i forgot where i saw it and its for the best..the only thing merc needs to do now is make a RHD version of the SLR..so that we can have this car in india

I'm not too sure on this, but when reading the same news on other forums, I read that it isn't a good idea since McMerc had apparently invested a huge sum of money on the hard-top development and is in fact very advanced so the drop-top would be one more cost factor which would ruin the SLR.
