Muammar Muhammad Abu Minyar Gaddafi or commonly knows as Muammar Gaddafi was a leader from Libya. As we all know he had a miserable death just like Uday Hussein's Family. But just like Uday Hussein, even Gaddafi had a great garage. Sharing some of the pics of his collection sourced through Google. This is one car which Gaddafi designed himself, called the "Saroukh el-Jamahiriya" or Libyan Rocket. It had a 230-hp V6 and the nose and tail of a rocket. More info at

His custom Fiat 500. It was reported to have cost £175,000 and is bright green with gold trimmings. It ran on electricity rather than petrol. It was customised by a company in Milan and bears some of the bizarre hallmarks of the Gaddafi personality cult. On the bonnet Fiat logo was replaced with a black map of Africa with Libya picked out in green. The interior feature a back-lit image of a tribal leader known as 'The Lion of the Desert’ who fought Italian troops during Libya’s colonisation in the 1920s and 30s. The car was later seized by anti-Gaddafi rebels from his Bab al-Azizia compound as evident from one of the pic.

Some collection of his Son Saif al-Arab Gaddafi, while he was studying at Munich. He was killed along with his cousins during NATO airstrike in 2011.

I wonder where this car is right-now. I hope it is not with some rebel leader deep inside Libya. I would love to see a road test report of this car though.

Looking back, I guess Mr. Gaddafi should have quit politics long back and taken up designing automobiles. Who knows, maybe his atma is thinking the same now.

love the w140 s600 pull man,simply my favorite car,preffered by most of the presidents in the early 90's,our president is still using the w140 pullman & 220 pullman

You generally don't tend to associate evil dictators with Fiat 500 or VW Beetle.

I'm now looking forward to seeing Saddam Hussein's and Idi Amin's car collection.

The 500 was used to drive around the palace complex if he was not using golf buggies.

Earlier, Gaddfi used humble cars to reflect the People Power he represented - the Beetle and Peugeots. Later on, he lost touch with reality
