Its beyond me that why car owners want to do this, The whole car is ruined in process as can be seen as most of these cars are for sale. Only car i like out of these is the Fiat 500 to Porsche, it looks straight out of some cartoon movie

Some of the Lamborghini replicas are quite convincing from the front at least. However, most of these are 'attempt at making replicas' because one can instantly figure out the shoddy job done.

An interesting thread nonetheless because I never imagined people would spend thousands of dollars on such attempts.

Another good job here. But the interior remains the same except the badge on the steering wheel.

The donor car is a 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL500.

Like the original car used in the Knight Rider series during the '80s, this here replica is based on a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am and comes with all the cosmetic bells and whistles of the TV car including the cool to look at, but far from practical, cut steering wheel and electronic displays on the dashboard that lights up like a Christmas tree.

Under the hood, there's a rebuilt 355 cubic inch (5.8-liter) small block Chevy V8, claimed by the seller to produce somewhere around 400-horsepower. The 'Buy it Now' price on eBay Motors is $27,000.

According to the dealer that sells it - Cats Exotics - this automobile is a limited edition James Bond 50th anniversary Spy Car. Apparently, only 50 examples were made and this is number 17.

The dealer also states that a group of private collectors came together to create the 007 Spy Cars and that the concept uses a Ford chassis and a Vanquish body in order to accommodate all the bespoke and awesome features it has.

It took over 45,000 hours to research and develop and another 2,500 to manufacture. All this just to make it look exactly like the original one used in the movie. And it comes with all the features you can imagine – hidden panels, guns and revolving license plates.

It has an automatic gearbox mated to a supercharged 4.6-litre Ford V8, carbon fiber interior trim a Pioneer infotainment system and push-button ignition. It may look close to the real thing on the outside, but inside, it's far form an authentic Aston Martin - i.e. the instrument panel and steering appear to be from an early 2000s Ford Mustang.

It costs $199,888, but you do get a framed movie poster personally signed by Pierce Brosnan and a signed plaque of the people who helped build it.

Really?!

Though I wouldn't buy any of them, I must say some of the cars are eerily similar to the real deal! Though they would never drive or handle or have power like the original supercars, some of them look very real indeed.

Although, an enthusiast will be able to distinguish it very easily, the common man would pass one as a supercar easily.

Mustang face on a VolvoS70R

The UK seller of the vehicle states that a lot of money and sweat went into the formation of this one-of-a-kind build on the ebay listing:

"Only one previous owner with some Service history documents by Volvo, previous MOTs and documents to show the work and some of the costs involved in making this car look how it does including bills for over £3000 and £7000 for parts and labor including parts such as a Shelby GT 500 front bumper for £704 , Grills for over £500 , Headlamps , bonnet, boot , side skirts wings and the list goes on. The 18" Wolfrace shadow chrome mantis wheels alone cost £800 as shown in the paperwork. The current owner has spent this and much much more."

Default Car Replicas - An alternative to Supercars?

This replica, or 'continuation car' as they prefer calling it, is on a whole new level!

SHELBY AND SUPERFORMANCE TO UNVEIL 50TH ANNIVERSARY GT40

Shelby, Superformance and Safir GT40 is set to release a limited edition GT40 MKII commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the historic 1-2-3 finish in the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans at the Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 27th, 2016.

Irvine, California (January, 2016) - Superformance, the leading manufacturer of 1960s era continuation sports cars, has collaborated with Shelby American Inc. to release 20 limited edition GT40 MKIIs at the Barrett Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, January 27th, 2016. These special edition GT40s will be exact replicas of the Le Mans winning cars- right hand drive and right hand shift, just like the originals driven by Bruce McLaren, Ken Miles, and Dan Gurney.

In June of 1966 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the GT40 MKII made American racing history with a dominating 1-2-3 finish. The Shelby-American team produced cars that took the top two places. The GT40 has won more prestigious race events than nearly any other road-race car in history. Own a piece of racing history with the limited release of the legendary GT40 MKII by Shelby and Superformance.

"We're very excited to release this special edition GT40 celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Le Mans victory," said Superformance CEO, Lance Stander. "Having known Carroll Shelby personally, we know how proud he was of this victory and can't think of a better way to commemorate it."

Shelby GT40 continuation cars are as true to the originals as you can get. The engineers paid such close attention to detail when recreating the car, that over 90% of the vehicles parts are interchangeable with the original car and chassis. Using an exact replica of the original all steel monocoque, unibody chassis, that is made up of over 244 laser cut, pressed and bent steel panels. It had twice the torsional strength of the formula one cars of the day. Shelby GT40 MKII vehicles include modern luxuries and safety features such as: air conditioning, Wilwood brakes, Bilstein shocks with H & R springs, and adjustable pedal box, making it just as comfortable on the street as it is on the track.

All 50th Anniversary GT40s will come with special gold 50th Anniversary Shelby badging, logos, and features. 3 Color schemes will be available; Bruce McLaren edition (Black with silver stripes), Ken Miles edition (Blue with white stripes), and Dan Gurney edition (Red with white stripes). The recommended power source is a specially prepared Shelby Aluminum block 427 FE engine. All will come with a special Anniversary badge stating what number in the limited edition sequence it is, as well as a unique Shelby issued MSO and place in the Shelby Registry, thanks to a specially reserved block of GT40P serial numbers for this series. Starting with GT40 P 2050 to 2069.

Shelby and its Dealer network is now taking orders for the 50th Anniversary GT40 MKII. For more information on Superformance, the 50th Anniversary GT40 and its full line of continuation vehicles, visit www.Shelby.com or www.superperformance.com

It has a 468 cubic inch Stroker 427 aluminum block FE engine that makes 575 hp.
The price for the rolling chassis is $169,995, with the drivetrain and install procedure an estimated $60,000. It's a bargain, when you consider that an original GT40 sold for $11 million.

1992 Toyota Supra as Bentley Continental GT3 R

Quote:
A Bentley Continental GT3 R replica body was recreated and screwed/glued onto the Toyota two-door coupe, with the seller claiming that nothing was welded or cut. The lights all around are also said to be genuine Bentley items, with the body featuring faithfully recreated stickers and stripes of the limited edition British GT.

The car comes with fresh fluids, an adjustable Tein suspension, 20in alloys and is registered in Holland. As for the price, the seller asks for 13,450 euros (around $15,000 in today’s exchange rates).
