So how exactly does this work? A private company can announce such a big infrastructure Project without any Government Intervention/Oversight? Or has that all happened in the background? I can just imagine all the Babus licking their lips at the kickbacks.

Concept is awesome; let's see if they can implement it. But then it's from a guy who privatised space transport (wow! Who would've thought?) and made electric cars cool and mainstream.

So, it's not impossible. Hope it happens soon. This is definitely the future of transportation.

Hyperloop One shows off its first superfast test track in the Nevada desert.
Quote:
new pictures from superfast transportation company Hyperloop One show, the technology is slowly making its way into the real world. The new images give an insight into how construction is progressing on Hyperloop One’s very own hyperloop in the Nevada desert, showing suspended track that could one day carry (possibly screaming) passengers at ridiculous speeds across the United States.

The test track — known as DevLoop — is 500 meters long and 3.3 meters in diameter, giving enough space for Hyperloop One to conduct public trials of its technology in the first half of this year. The track itself can be found some 30 minutes from Las Vegas, out in the kind of desert that hyperloop pods could one day traverse in minutes.

Hyperloop won't happen in India any time soon. I know that 100%. Land acquisition in India is not something Elon Musk and his angels can ever pull off.

These kind of projects require heavy legal rights and lots of intangible advantages.

A lot of the heavy infra projects in India are on the backburner due to lack of fuel supply, blah blah blah.

As cool as it sounds as far as India is concerned it's nothing but a dream. All I can say is good luck to whoever pursues replication of it in India, their will power and resolute in getting clearances from Ministry of Blah Blah Blah will have to be superman like.

As cool as it seems, Hyperloop is not going anywhere anytime soon. The idea is very interesting. Hyperloop one, the company developing the hyperloop technology recently tested it in the Nevada desert. Even though the initial tests were a failure, I heard the did manage to turn it around.

The idea of the Hyperloop coming to India is all part of the media campaigning program. It is not going to come to India period! we don't even have maglev trains! The technology is still in the beta stage and nowhere ready to be implemented.

Elon musk, the man who brought up the idea, doesn't have much to do with the hyperloop by the way. He is sort of a mentor and nothing else. all the work is done by the hyperloop one team.

Actually, there is a group of students from BITS(Birla institute) and few other campuses participating in the space X competition held in the USA. these guys developed their own mini hyperloop model. check out their website here: http://hyperloopindia.in

It doesn't work in vacuum, because that would be near impossible. yes, a small leak would disrupt the whole system. so what they are doing is reducing the air pressure inside the tube to one-sixth of that outside, reducing drag by some amount.

At the Middle East Rail conference, the startup's press release said that a Hyperloop pod would offer a 30-minute reach between UAE cities Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Al Ain, with the journey between Abu Dhabi and Dubai taking a mere 12 minutes.

A map of estimated times between cities in the gulf region.

Hyperloop One shows first ‘Full Systems Test’, unveils first ‘pod’.

Quote:
Hyperloop One, one of the main companies developing the new mode of transportation envisioned by Elon Musk, announced today “the successful completion of the world’s first full systems Hyperloop test in a vacuum environment.

Surprisingly, this test was privately conducted on May 12, 2017 at the company’s test track in Nevada, known as the ‘DevLoop’, and they are only now disclosing it.
