These newer generation Skodas and Volkswagens make entry level Audis, Mercs and BMWs feel pointless. Infact the upcoming Passat and Superb have everything that an E or a 5 would offer minus the brand value and perhaps rear wheel drive, but then you end up saving a lot of cash too!

The new Superb looks stellar so does the new Passat, look wise and spec wise too, if they bring both these cars to India, pricing alone is what will decide their fate.

Default 2015 Skoda Superb: Details revealed!

A series of teaser images, multiple spy shots and renders later, Czech car maker Skoda has finally disclosed the details of the third generation Skoda Superb (B8). The all new Superb skips the B7 platform and draws its design inspiration from the VisionC Concept that was showcased at the 2014 Geneva motor show.

The new Superb - that will make its public debut at the 2015 Geneva motor show, will see its market launch in June 2015. The model debuts after the B5 that arrived in 2001 and the B6 that debuted in 2009 and was refreshed in 2013. Given below are the details:

Detailed specifications are yet to be revealed, but the new Superb sees an increase in interior space. The wheelbase has been increased by 80 mm while the front overhang has been cut down by 61 mm. Skoda says the passengers up front get a 39 mm increase in head and elbow room, while rear legroom stands at 157 mm. Rear elbow room is up by 69 mm, while boot space is up 30 litres over the outgoing model and stands at 625 litres.

The new Skoda Superb comes with five TSI petrol and three TDI diesel direct-injection turbocharged engines based on MQB technology. All power-trains comply with EU6 standards and have stop-start technology and brake energy recovery as standard. The petrol engines have a power output of between 123 BHP and 276 BHP, while the diesel engines produce between 118 BHP and 188 BHP.

Except for the entry-level petrol version, all engines are available with a dual-clutch automatic transmission. Four engines are available with all-wheel drive based on the Haldex 5 clutch. The new engines are said to offer up to 30% lower fuel consumption values and emissions, complemented by a weight reduction of 75 kgs.

Skoda will be offering an array of new features with the new Superb. The saloon gets dynamic chassis control (DCC) with driving mode select, three zone climate control, a sliding and tilting panoramic sunroof, rain and light sensors and one umbrella in each of the front doors instead of one in the rear left door. Select markets will also feature auxiliary heating, heated seats, a wireless heated windscreen and heated washer jets. The new Superb will also get park assist, a rear view camera and the handbrake is now an electronic one.

Safety features include electronic stability control (ESC), multi-collision brake, front assist with emergency brake, electronic tyre pressure monitor, seven airbags + optional rear side airbags. The Superb can also be equipped with adaptive cruise control, crew protect assist, lane assist, emergency assist, blind spot detection including rear traffic alert and driver alert.

Found this video. Amazing detail. I like the new superb on the outside, but not so much inside. Lets see how the interior feels in real life. Good show!

What a good looking car! I hope she's as much of a stunner in person.

The current Superb never appealed to me. I found its styling to be way too quirky. Plus, it looks too long & too narrow. With this next-gen Superb, Skoda have addressed that to a great extent. I can't take my eyes off it

Can hardly wait for it to arrive here. Hope Skoda promotes this car properly and doesn't do an 'Octavia' with it (in terms of limited supplies & pricing). The new Superb has the potential to be a game-changer just like its predecessor was.

Looks like a winner. Come on, Skoda - your cars are great, just get the dealer network sorted out.

From the looks, features and even the engine options forget competing in this segment. It pretty much whoops sister company's Audi A6!!

Skoda needs to get their act together in the after sales. This Superb might do wonders for them if they can sort that out.

The old Superb was a brilliant package for the chauffeur driven, quirky styling not withstanding. Appeal to self driven buyers was less as it was long and felt like piloting a limo. This doesn't give that impression at all.

Wow ! What a teaser. This car looks robust yet beautiful , simple but stylish. The interiors are futuristic but elegant and not over done. Not plasticky like many present gen cars that give a feeling of sitting in a UFO cockpit ! The teaser points to a car that is going to appeal to a lot of people.

Just read three zone climate control in the feature list. IIRC,this is only offered in German cars like E,5 series and A6. Hope it makes it to the Indian Variant. Also this looks way better than the outgoing car. Kudos to the Skoda design team! I expect this car to be a hit with those who drive themselves too, apart from the chauffeur driven.

Too good to resist. Skoda has taken the new superb to a new level. What's pity is these gem cars are not complimented by proper aftersales. Otherwise the competition would have been blown away infront of Superb and Passat.

An absolute work of art. Good chance that it will be launched at the 2016 auto expo. I hope Skoda uses this time to work on improving their service end and localize heavily. Always considered the Superb to be one of the best luxury sedans on the market. With chiseled looks like this, German titan three entry level model buyers will think twice.

What a stunning looking car. Where the old Superb was stodgy this is younger in design and so much more vibrant. If the current Superb was a super alternative to the 3's, A4's and C's of this world (badge notwithstanding), this ups the ante even more with its smart looks. Improve the interiors and features even a little bit and it will continue the Super's winning run.

WOW! I haven't been able to say that for too many cars in the recent past, but this Superb Skoda has got it right again this time, the looks are brilliant and the increase in size will mean it will truly give E classes and A6s a run for their money. I'd pick this up to change my vRS if launched here with a good engine option.

That's an absolute ravishing car. This gives it a totally mean, thumping look. Wonderful. Hope it arrives in the same kit as the European models. If it is as mentioned, would be definitely on my list of to-have cars.

How nicely has the first chubby Superb evolved into a sleek sharp-contoured one over the years! Just like her sisters - Fabia, Rapid, Octavia.
