Mercedes has unveiled the new V-Class in Munich, Germany. This model will replace the ageing Viano. It is expected to go on sale later this year with Mercedes declining to mention the prices as of now. This is an MPV which focuses on luxury and maximum comfort.

The design takes cues from a variety of Merc models including the S, C and E Class. The front is dominated by a large chrome grille with the three pointed star featuring prominently. LED infused headlights flank both sides of the grille. The look is beefed up by protruding wheel arches and sculpted look continues with a sweeping shoulder line and an elongated taut lines along the side profile which begins from the wheel arches and rises slightly until it reaches the rear adding a touch of elegance.

Default Benz delivers V Class for 2014

Hi all, The latest offering from the Mercedes Benz stable is the V Class. I.A.B reports that Mercedes-Benz announced the V Class van on January 30th. While interior images of the van have already been released last year, the exterior design and specifications were something many were looking forward to.

An upgrade for the popular Viano van, the V Class will also plug the void of the unsuccessful R Class. And it certainly has the looks to be taken seriously thanks to those S Class inspired headlights and sporty bumpers. The van is being marketed to families, people with “active hobbies” and shuttle bus operators.

The V Class is powered by a 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with power displacements of 136 hp, 170 hp and 190 hp. The engine is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The customization friendly V Class is available in short or long wheelbase (3,200 mm or 3,430 mm) versions. Three different lengths ranging from 4,895mm to 5,370mm can also be specified.

Inside, features such as the Crosswind Assist and ATTENTION ASSIST come standard. A 360-degree camera, active parking assistance systems and fingertip controlled media system and LED mood lighting are some of the optional features.

I thinks it's going to be a market dud. No one in this price range would want a mini-van like image. True the interior is luxurious but it's just a cut'n'paste from the other cars, they have just changed their position. While the exteriors are good for a van, they are not good for a premium/D2 car. Partly because it's too tall and partly because it's got tiny wheels for that height. It's the Mercedes Omni.

Woah, that sure looks like....a dud. I don't know whether it'd be successful in filling up that void left by the failure of the R class. The feature list and the engine options are impressive and the car looks smart up front. But the rear doesn't impress much and looks no better than a laundry van. Or else, that is an awful PS job!

It looks like a big, ugly, boxy, yet elongated Evalia, Enjoy or Innova, Avanza or whatever.
Guaranteed repeat box office sequel dud, just like the R Class.
