Here is what VW bosses have to say about GEN Nxt Polo - MQB A0, for emerging markets! So expect a new brand for a compact car from VAG Group!

have also hinted at the need to fill the gap between next year’s even larger Polo and the up! city car, although it might not wear a VW badge. VW has confirmed two further group brands – one to be used in emerging markets and one for its smart mobility solutions – but Skoda and SEAT offerings are also expected to fill that gap.

Is this the Gen Next Polo for India?

VW's 2018 Gol for Brazil will be built on the MQB platform A0( simplified) and called integrally GO MQB.

The model will be built from the MQB platform and have much in common with the new European Pole that will arrive in 2017.

For Brazil -The three-cylinder 1.0 engines, TSI and 1.6 16V 1.0 MSI are already confirmed in the new generation of the Compact. It is speculated that the 1.4 TSI Flex is also part of plan.

Europeans may not have the expertise in designing a flashy car, but they simply excel in creating timeless designs. Even with this folklore and by their own standards, this would be a hideous output!!

That car actually looks like some relic of the Golf and if this is what the 'Next Gen Polo' is going to look like, all the current Polo owners...REJOICE

Polo
Correct me if I am wrong but isn't that a Golf? Why would they sell a golf as a polo.

That's what it says on the tailgate. I also suspect that it is what volkman10 meant to say, but the "f" got lost.

Here it is...It is VW Gol as seen in Brazil. VW Gol is the hatch so far sold in Brazil only. it shares Volkswagen's PQ24 platform with the Fox and Polo, with some components from the PQ25 platform.
The Voyage is the sedan version of VW Gol.

Strategy and Speculation
Going Forward for emerging Markets (Brazil , India..) VW would align its products( strategy). Hence the GOL and Voyage will actually be the next Gen Polo and Vento, going forward.( speculation).
The look of this 'New Polo'will be exactly to the European Polo which will be seen in 2017.

The 'New Polo /Gol' will be a bit larger than the existing Polo ( WB will change) and will be loaded with features. Might easily move to the premium hatch segment.
The same will follow the T Cross - Polo/Gol based compact/UV.

Quote:
the Gol will be the brazilian version of 2018 new European Polo. Will gain in size, security, technology and refinement. And will be family: have the first act of the new Voyage (above) and, beyond it, there will be an unprecedented SUV (below) and an intermediate sized pickup between the Sloop and the Amarok-on measure to face Fiat Toro.
Quote:
the axles were less width than the body, while the brakes were drum at the rear and the leak did not appear in dedicated to him in the bumper. believe it's a mule of the new Gol

So, Gol it is, with no missing F! So much for my ill-thought-out assumptions!

This same base will be used for the next VW Polo and Gol, so that it is possible to imagine and similar measures to the Brazilian model.

Quote:
Under the hood, are on offer 1.0 TSI of 95 HP engines or 115 HP and 150 hp 1.5 IST of. Diesel engine, the 1.6 TDI with powers of 80, 95 and 110 HP. Why is it squatting so much ? Getting in and out would be a chore. When cars are getting taller, they are going in the opposite direction.

Volkswagen to abandon small diesels in favour of mild hybrids - Next Gen Polo will have the Mild Hybrid configuration.

VW halts the development of a new turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder originally scheduled for introduction in 2018 in the upcoming sixth-generation Polo.
Quote:
a definitive timeframe on when Volkswagen would cease to offer a diesel engine in the Polo and its future derivatives, including a new entry-level SUV previewed by the T-Cross Breeze concept, although he indicates the days of the existing turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine are numbered. “Three to four years, maybe five,

As a consequence of the change in driveline strategy, Volkswagen has also decided to cease production of its turbocharged 1.4-litre three-cylinder diesel engine, as offered in the existing fifth-generation Polo.
India might continue having the 1.5 TDI in its future portfolio.

Can We expect this New Polo sometime next year ?

I hope with Emission Concerns, VW launches the sBlue Motion Polo along with Regular Petrol & Diesel versions.

This is a really well engineered car, but VW needs to make sure it's more spacious. That's the only weaklink, also hope VW ditches those 3 cylinder engines.

The sixth Generation Polo ( NOT for India?) based on the MQB A0 platform will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

It is larger but lighter than its eight-year-old predecessor. A redesigned interiors and a slew of new generation engines are to be expected.

Details of the next-generation Volkswagen Polo emerge. EDIT: Unveiled in Berlin-vwpolomagnews.jpg

Quote:
the upcoming Polo is notably longer and wider than before.
Quote:
The bigger dimensions are allied to a longer wheelbase and wider tracks, which also mean increased interior space and a significantly larger boot than the outgoing model
Quote:
The new Polo features a more dynamic-looking exterior that will help broaden its sales appeal. Redesigned headlights, a more heavily sloping roofline and a more structured rearend design were among the elements evident in recent sightings of a clay model of the new Polo at Volkswagen’s design base in Germany.
Quote:
The latest Polo has gained an all-new cabin. VW hopes it will trump rivals on perceived interior quality, with a soft dashboard fascia and new trim elements, as well as controls and front seats sourced from the recently facelifted Golf
Engines:
Entry-level versions of the new Polo will use a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine in 64bhp, 74bhp, 94bhp and 113bhp guises. Meanwhile, the turbo 1.2-litre petrol unit is likely to be dropped. VW’s three-cylinder petrol engine is again set to power a frugal BlueMotion version.
The turbo 1.4-litre fourcylinder petrol engine used in today’s Polo will be replaced by the turbo 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol unit recently launched in the facelifted Golf.
Topping the range will be a successor to the Polo GTI. Rumours suggest it will use a turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit with upwards of 200 bhp.

Quote:
Although VW eventually intends to replace its small diesel engines with petrolelectric drivetrains, the new Polo will continue to offer diesel units. Replacing the 1.4-litre three-cylinder diesel of today’s model is an updated version of VW’s controversial 1.6-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, likely in 79bhp, 94bhp and, possibly, 108bhp guises.
Quote:
A five-speed manual gearbox will be available on lower-powered engines, with a six-speed manual on powerful units. A seven-speed dualclutch gearbox will be an option.
Quote:
the new Polo will be sold with a short-range petrolelectric mild-hybrid drivetrain
