Man, had totally forgotten about the Fiat-Mazda alliance. Thanks for the refresher.

Mazda sure knows how to make fun-to-drive cars, and Fiat gets some of the best steerings & suspensions in the business. This car has the potential to be a cheap rockstar.

What's even better, it's going to be built in Hiroshima. A Fiat with Japanese reliability .

This is interesting! It does look a lot like the MX-5 in the spy shots. I hope they bring it to India soon.

Almost...the Multiair engine will be made in Italy and shipped to Hiroshima. But it will be one sensual sounding beast

It will certainly be much more powerful and 'accelerative', as well as more expensive surely, than the new MX-5: the t-jet at say 140 or 180 bhp (the Abarth version) with MultiAir electro-hydraulic intelligent, continuously variable valve timing. Perhaps the ddct dual-clutch amt too, from the Alfa 4C and other Fiats/Abarths?

The Japanese, barring Toyota, are hardly the quality/reliability paragons they once were. Honda has just sacked their ceo over quality and reliability etc falls, and Mazda is not known to be issspecial on that count either.

There could be a fair few Indian automotive bhogi-s (or is that yogi-s?!! ;-) who'd lineup for this car, at say 25-35 lakhs give or take?

Myself included (if beggars would ride etc, though)!

Who knows, with FCA launching the Abarth brand here, and introducing even the cbu 595 competizione soon, they might find it is worth their financial while to offer this in India too?

btw, it will look like this, the original 124 Spider:

Looks like they've based the new front grill design on the original 124 Sport Spider. Liking the minimalist look, the size and the proportions.

Why do we never get cars like the GT86 or Miata I wonder.

Hoping they will bring this to India atleast under the Abarth brand.
